make it a tad more special and extra delicious by cooking the oatmeal with pure apple juice / cider, spices,
butter or coconut oil and chopped almonds for extra rich flavor and texture.
The caramel
here is on the healthier side of the spectrum,
made with coconut milk and coconut sugar instead of
butter / regular sugar, and the addition of miso adds a nice, salty hint to contrast all the sweetness.
While most times I'll throw in a spoonful of Dijon mustard or a pinch of nutmeg,
here I just simple
made a roux with
butter and flour, whisked the milk in and seasoned very simply with salt and pepper.

Made these at weekend, substituted unsalted
