A steady hand will go a long way to
making low light shots better, but in all other situations, the Moto Z line does a good job at being a pocket photography companion.
It performs more agressive sharpening and noise cancelling than Google does, which can
make some low light shots look better.
By default the camera is set to automatic everything, including a «light boost» mode that's supposed to
make lower light shots better.

There is the deep focus that Toland
made famous the next year in Citizen Kane, plus
low -
light chiaroscuro and trick
shots like anchoring the camera to the floor of the ship so the audience has a plank - level view of a storm, the waves crashing over the lens.

Whether you're
making a

light shooting and HDR, as well as a zero - lag shutter response.
But do
make a note that
low -
light shots, in general, are quite well, with an aperture of f / 1.8, why won't they be, right!
On the front, there is an 8MP secondary camera for crystal clear, high - resolution images so and LED flash to
make your
shots beautiful in
low -
light conditions.
The f / 1.9 aperture not only helps to produce some great looking depth of field, but also
makes for some very good
low light shots.
The camera
makes it much easier to get great
shots, even in

Honor has improved the algorithms for portrait
shots,
making the phone focus faster, and added new software to
make the camera perform better in
low light.
The slow focusing speeds combine with the lack of optical image stabilization (OIS) to
make for quite a few blurry

made to offer owners an improved

light shooting experience.
Zooming in on these photos reveals how much more detail the Pixel 2 camera was able to catch, which
makes a huge difference in those

light shots.
And I don't think the Samsung Galaxy Note 8 holds a candle to either of the iPhone X or the Pixel 2: Samsung's aggressive smoothing
makes low -
light shots appear better at first, but the iPhone retains more detail.
The 16 - megapixel sensor takes in lots of detail when
light is good, and Nokia's HDR technology does a great job of
making up for the
lower dynamic range on the sensor, although it tends to take a second or two to actually process the
shot after taking it.
It's surrounded by a
low, metal control ring, that you can turn to
make various adjustments — including white balance, ISO
light sensitivity, shutter speed, aperture and
shooting mode (Auto, Aperture priority, Manual, etc.).
While color appears fairly vibrant in well -
lit shots, the relatively
low - quality lens and sensor often struggle with any serious degree of
light contrast in a scene,
making the image appear washed - out.
While many of the photos don't feature the lush contrast and delicate color balance that, say, the Google Pixel can pump out, I'd have no reservations about
making this my primary camera in a pinch, unless I was
shooting in
low -
light.
When it gets darker still the performance is yet weaker, with heavy image noise
making low -
light shots worse than many rivals.
The phone may also pack an ambient
light sensor that could
make the iPhone an even better device for
shooting photos in
low light.
Samsung's software processing is also top notch and it
makes good adjustments when needed, though we've noticed a somewhat increased amount of yellow when
shooting in
low -
light conditions.
For
low -
light shots, Apple has
made a point to keep its camera at 8 megapixels, and to
make each larger, in order to achieve better images.
It takes a good two or three seconds for the camera to capture a
shot in
low light, and that
makes it really difficult to get a
shot that was in focus.
There's no OIS in either lens, which would have gone a long way towards
making those
low -
light shots better.
In
low light situations, the camera tends to hunt for focus a lot, which
makes the
shooting experience feel a lot slower.
Not to be complacent, OnePlus has also
made improvements to its camera, giving it the ability to
shoot better photos in
low light, better portraits, and more.
