I have been wanting to start fermenting for some time — and have had one unsuccessful attempt at
making water kefir so far.

Let me ask, as Im doing lots of
kefir,
water kefir, and your apple sauce recipe is again right up my alley,
so I was curious once you add the
water kefir to the apple sauce recipe, it essentially consumes all the sugars,
making it safer for people with blood sugar issues, similiar to when you secondary ferment
water kefir adding fruit juice, and it consumes the sugars still, or the organisms do.
I have
so far
made two different
kefir matcha smoothies, drunk it as normal in a mug of hot
water and tried it as a matcha shot in a glass provided by teapigs.
Fresh garden chocolate mint is infused into this chilled
water kefir,
making it
so refreshing.
I also reasoned that introducing fermented foods like
kefir (you can
make water kefir), sauerkraut and kombucha would help crowd out HP,
so I started going nuts with the stuff.

They are happiest when they are actually
making water kefir,

The normal advice to «
make sure to keep counters and floors clean and put food away
so insects aren't attracted to your house,» doesn't works
so well when you are fermenting jars of sweetened tea (kombucha) and sugar
water (
water kefir) on the kitchen counters.
But if the whey (the «
water» at the bottom) is bitter or extra sour, then you may not be able to save it (by the way, this can sometimes be strained and used to
make soft or even hard
kefir cheese (
so don't toss it just because it looks unappetizing.)
It brews quicker,
so it's a good in - between while you're waiting for «bucha to ferment, and it
makes a nice break from kombucha, sometimes you just want that super light crisp soda like taste,
water kefir does that!
In fact, there have been specific studies that noted
water kefir, a probiotic drink
made with
water and
kefir grains, flavored with mango juice and fermented a second time (capped for a day or two
so that it fizzes) has even more benefits than many other fruits.
I have been
making water kefir for several years now and
so far have not used an airlock.
So have have been
making & drinking
water Kefir for about 3 weeks.
I often give away
water kefir grains to people and they ask me about how they should
make their
water kefir,
so I figured that rather than explain the process to lots of people many times, I'd just write it all down here and direct people to my blog!
Drinking probiotic beverages like kombucha,
water kefir, and beet kavas;
making and eating [daily] a portion of lacto - fermented vegetables like sauerkraut, kimchee and pickles and enjoying raw milk, yogurt, dairy
kefir and other fermented dairy products is excellent and
so very healing.
I only
make water kefir once a week
so I have been trying to get them to grow in between those times.

so delicious» coconut milk with milk
kefir... just
make sure that you have grown your new
kefir grains in fresh milk for at least six weeks
so that they have a good micro flora balance when they are transfered to a new medium to grow in.
