any other animated film by a mile, and much loved by viewers, how does it not get a nom?

animated films that hit the big screen today; this reviewer will always take another Shrek feature
film... or even a Christmas Special.
Having seen nearly every computer -
animated film made, I would rank Shrek and Shrek 2 near the top of the second tier, just below the fine
films of Pixar and on par with DreamWorks»
other successes (like Antz, Over the Hedge).
This
animated superhero parody makes so many zippy references to
film, music and
other mass obsessions, it's like watching stand - up comedians trade riffs with each
other on a Just For Laughs stage.
Maybe at this point it's too much to hope for an
animated film like The Angry Birds Movie to exist as anything
other than marketing fodder, but hopefully it's not too much to ask for that #content to have a shred of substance to it.
Take away The Wind Rises, which was briefly screened in 2013 only to qualify for awards (which it did, collecting an Oscar nomination for best
animated film), and Disney's 2013 average drops to 53.4 (the studio's lowest average since 2010), though that was still higher than four
other major distributors last year.
Best
animated film nominee The Croods, Fox's highest - grossing
film last year (though with just $ 587 million worldwide, good for 11th place overall), was one of just two Oscar nominations for the studio (the
other came for John Williams» Book Thief score).
Other titles include THE BOYS, VELVET GOLDMINE, EMMA, alongside Gwyneth Paltrow, THE BLACK BALLOON, and the
animated film MARY AND MAX.
An
animated film with a look — a kinetic aesthetic honoring its product line's bright, bricklike origins — that isn't like every
other clinically rounded and bland digital 3 - D effort.

animated science fiction sequel World of Tomorrow Episode 2: The Burden of

animated film marks Toho's 30th Godzilla movie, and will receive a theatrical release in Japan in November before arriving on Netflix in

Other incarnations, from stage and screen's The Wiz to the $ 60 M CG -
animated feature Legends of Oz: Dorothy Returns that has been «coming soon» for years, have produced or will produce their detractors, unquestionably being judged harshly against the magic and marvels of the iconic, enduring Judy Garland
film.
Other notable projects included Max Ophuls» 1953 drama «The Earrings of Madame de...,» Jacques Demy's beloved 1967 musical «The Young Girls of Rochefort» and the 2007 Oscar - nominated
animated film «Persepolis.»
Other films walking away with prizes included Pixar feature Inside Out, which won Best
Animated Feature.
Other winners include: Coco, which won Best
Animated Feature, Faces Places, which picked up the prize for Best Documentary Feature, and Raw, a French horror
film about a teenage vegetarian who realizes she is a cannibal, was named Best Foreign Language
Film.
On its own, «MU» is a success because of a smart script, simple, but relatable humor, and its honesty — all qualities missing from most
other recent
animated films.
This latest Disney picture, Beauty and the Beast, joins a growing list of live - action movies which traces its origins to
animated films, including «The Jungle Book,» «Pete's Dragon,» «Cinderella» and «Maleficent,» among
others.
Jonah Hill talks about his role in the upcoming
animated film «Megamind» by director Tom McGrath (Madagascar) and starring Brad Pitt (Inglourious Basterds, World War Z), Will Ferrell (The
Other Guys), Jonah Hill (Get Him to the Greek, 21 Jump Street) and Tina Fey (30 Rock).
The categories includes novels, short stories, graphic novels,
film and TV, among
others, and I was a little bit surprised to learn that the winner for the past year in «Best Dramatic Presentation, Long Form» was Pixar's
animated film Wall - E.
