A number of new freestanding glass and
marble floor sculptures complete the installation in the main gallery.
Created entirely from materials found in nature, this exhibition will feature Milkstone, 1987 — 2001, a hand polished slab of marble with a shallow indentation onto which a fresh layer of milk is poured; and Rice House, 2002, a four - foot long
marble floor sculpture in the shape of a house surrounded by mounds of white rice.

marble sculpture of a youthful Newton, reclining regally beneath a gold - leafed globe, and Darwin's minimalist

floor, are a Louise Nevelson — esque bookshelf and steel pivot door to the kitchen that Francis Mill designed with Chris French.
An event of singular importance is scheduled this spring at MASS MoCA — a decade - long installation of three monumental
marbles by Louise Bourgeois, each weighing several tons and occupying a sprawling measure of
floor space reinforced by steel supports, with an additional aluminum
sculpture on five - year loan.
One outstanding example consists of four works from the late 1970s through the early 1990s: Yarn hangs loosely from the ceiling in overlapping half ovals (The Nearest Air, 1991) while two works, both titled
Sculpture for Nontransparent Materials (1985) and made of solid wood and
marble hemispheres sit closely on the
floor, facing each other.

marble sculptures by Bourgeois stand upon a structurally reenforced
floor.
Barlow's
sculptures have tended to be modified for, or inspired by, each venue: the high ceilings of the BALTIC Center for Contemporary Art in Newcastle provided an opportunity to create a very tall anthropomorphic object while here in the lobby of One Canada Square, a corporate office building, she has used a lurid pink and yellow colour scheme as a response to the
floor - to - wall pinkie - brown
marble hall.
Gaillard's was not the only work from the Hammer, as Los Angeles gallery Regen Projects exhibited site - specific work by Gabriel Kuri,
sculptures that mimic the
marble flooring of the museum's second -
floor smoking patio.
Linda Moncada and Saige Rowe's «Is This a Love Connection» featured a melting ice
sculpture that left blue - green
marbled marks on the
floor, alongside playful video and installation works exploring entropy and decay.
At The Knockdown Center, an immersive video and sound installation by Caroline Woolard and Alexander Rosenberg reverberates throughout the former glass factory; glass weights by Lika Volkova rest on the chests of performers on the
floor; the sound of waves crashing is produced mechanically by a thousand small glass
marbles, held in a glass frame that see - saws above; a
sculpture by Helen Lee.
A permanent
sculpture by him has been installed in the Reichstag, in Berlin; and when he represented his nation at the Venice Biennale in 1993, he pickaxed up the
marble floor of Germany's Nazi - era pavilion.
