You'll mix together Flow Attacks, which act like a traditional button
mashing standard attack, with Reactive Attacks, which offer more technical manoeuvres to counter or finish a foe but can only be used when indicated in - game.
Holding down a trigger button and one of the attack buttons can send enemies skyward or possibly fell them, allowing you to
mash the standard attack button for a combo.
Not exact matches
You can get away with just
mashing the
attack button until you get a parry prompt, carry on
mashing, then (again) hold the button down to do some brutal finishers once you hit Fury mode... which isn't even that different to the
standard combat mode.
Each character — even Frank West — has a set of
standard attacks that are accessed by
mashing the melee
attack button, and then a set of powerful special abilities.
The
standard block is in there as well but for the most part combat is a button
mashing affair with the only real tactics being the use of your Justice
attacks which trigger special
attacks, sadly the majority of these aren't that impressive.
