Now it takes little reflection to see that most major problems
of ecclesial and
political controversy have always been and will continue to be divergent and not convergent ones; accordingly, there is an especially vexing irony in the fact that those who want to find a «mainstream» position on the Big Issues are almost always those who are committed on other grounds to a pluralist or relativist stance in
matters of public
debate.
In most cases they have overcome both
political fragmentation and government overload by replacing their old governmental bureaucracies with an innovative and effective form
of governance: coalitions (composed
of business, government, nonprofits, universities, neighborhood and minority associations, and religious groups) that develop a cooperative agenda to improve the city and that assume many
of the city government's traditional functions (economic development, long - term planning, educational reform, even care
of the homeless), and that also operate like
political parties
of yore (providing the point
of access for new groups and a public realm for discourse,
debate, and negotiation concerning
matters of the common good).
The nature
of the Hamas - Israel conflict is as well a
matter of heated
political debate.
But in Poland — a country where museums are regular sites
of protest, the morality and purpose
of art are publicly
debated in ongoing culture wars, and an Israeli artist representing the country in Venice could arguably found a
political party — this distinction hardly
matters.
That is the issue
of concern, and it
matters little which side wins the
debate since our
political system is so badly broken.
The ways in which we might drastically reduce such emissions are
of course a
matter for
political debate and decision - making.
If other scientists disagree with his findings then let them detail how and why he is wrong so that the
matters can be properly analysed and
debated — to simply condemn someone and their work because it does not «conform» to «group think» is just another example
of political correctness gone mad — the Australian public is sick to death
of it.
What I find particularly insidious in the largely manufactured
debates over hockey sticks, Climategate, and similar red herrings, is the attempt to portray the real scientific issues as merely
matters of opinion, as though choosing to believe Wegman vs. Mann, or Hansen vs. Lindzen, has no more objective validity than one's choice
of favorite sports teams (I was going to use
political parties, but that's another argument).
The «settled»
debate seems to be the
political one for Paris where the white papers
of the folks that
matter are now being (or have already been) drawn up.
In the overall context
of European patent harmonization and the creation
of a unified European patent judiciary, some
of these issues that
matter to defendants may spark further
political debate in the years ahead.
As Omar notes,
political and social conditions in some
of these countries are
matters of considerable
debate, and that
debate can continue on the screens
of Wikipedia, so the resulting text may not be as reliable as one would like.
Instead, a positive reading
of the right could have entailed a duty on the Council's side to facilitate a
debate on questions
of exceptional
political significance, through the provision
of highly relevant information that it holds on the

of those adverts carried little

of ECEC services not only at the early childhood level by encouraging shared decision - making at local level, but also at community and
political levels by making early education a
matter of public
debate and collective responsibility.
