My children went straight from our bed at about 15 months to a twin
mattress on the floor in our room and then eventually to the bed in their room.
Put an extra pillow on the floor in case he falls out, or place the bed or cot
mattress on the floor so it doesn't matter if he rolls off.
These include a few
mattresses on the floor where parents and child sleep next to each other, a side car, toddler bed, bassinet etc. (all following safe sleep guidelines).
You may also want to think about moving your baby to a toddler -
safe mattress on the floor in your room depending on your co sleeping arrangement and individual situation.
We had his «child bed» (
aka mattress on the floor) all ready for him since birth, but just didn't use it until he was about 8 months old.
I also know of people who just put their
double mattress on the floor with a single one next to it for this purpose, or bought a king sized bed.
Our plan for our return home (and when both mom and dad can bear it) when she's about 7 months, is to put her in her own totally baby - proofed room

In my experience, children can be eased into their own beds by transitioning first to a futon or
mattress on the floor beside the parents» bed, to eventually their own bed.
On the other hand, if your baby is old enough for safe bed sharing, you may try co sleeping on a
shared mattress on the floor for a little while until your child starts to transition to a separate room.
Dorms are simple mosquito nets
over mattresses on the floor; private rooms are also basic but clean with varnished wood floors and mozzie nets and communal bathrooms appeared well - maintained.
As the CEO of Foundstone, I teamed up with my old E&Y colleagues, didn't get paid for over six months and slept on a
bare mattress on the floor of one of our co-founder's houses to get the company running.
After that, the separation can take place in steps, starting with a futon or
spare mattress on the floor, until eventually the child prefers his own room.
Only downside about the Fern resort was that they had no high chairs, and no baby cots (we used a
big mattress on the floor).
But I would like to say that he woke every 2 hours to nurse (we co slept) until about 3 weeks ago when we moved him to a small bed with side rail, (old
cot mattress on floor just in case!)
Some pack and plays feature a mobile with suspended toys or a detachable baby gym that can also be used with the
bassinet mattress on the floor as a separate play mat for tummy time.
Some toddlers are ready to move out of the crib at less than two years old and happily snuggle into a toddler bed, box -
springless mattress on the floor, or regular bed with crib rail.
We had a crib and it was totally unnecessary for us (we never planned to cosleep, but that's what happened and we never needed the crib, even when DS started sleeping in his own room we just put him on the
toddler mattress on the floor).
I'd already planned to use a (twin bed)
mattress on the floor once the child moved into her own room, but hadn't thought about it with her as a baby.
Last night he fell off the bed and I believe we have to do something so we're going to try the crib
mattress on the floor because he absolutely hates being in his crib and we love falling asleep with him.
