For the change in annual mean surface air
temperature in the various cases, the model experiments show the familiar
pattern documented in the SAR with a
maximum warming in the high latitudes of the Northern Hemisphere and a minimum in the Southern Ocean (due to ocean heat uptake)(2)

Maximum to the Holocene, https://www.nature.com/articles/nature25454
The sea surface
temperature (SST) anomalies that define the AMV are characterized by a basin - scale
pattern that has the same sign over the whole North Atlantic, with a
maximum loading over the subpolar gyre region.
This spatial
pattern is consistent with the air
temperature — North Atlantic Oscillation (NAO) index correlation
pattern, with
maximum correlation in the near - Atlantic region, which decays toward the North Pacific.
The above charts compare three different locations and to check whether the shifts in
temperature patterns were climatic rather than instrumental or environmental, the Perth Botanic Gardens
maximum and minimum
temperatures can be compared with Perth Airport.
During the 80s and 90s, average minimum
temperatures rose two to three times faster than the average
maximum temperatures.12 Scientists reported one consistent
pattern.
The spatial
pattern in skeletal growth rates and partial mortality scars found in massive Porites sp. across the central and northern islands suggests that corals subject to larger year - to - year fluctuations in
maximum ocean
temperature were more resistant to a 2004 warm - water event.
Unfortunately
temperature records are not old enough (160 years
maximum) to provide larger scale (centennial especially)
patterns, that could tell us when this overall warming would end.
The entire season of fall demonstrated the same disparity between daily
maximum and minimum
temperatures, but with the
pattern shifted so that the southern tier of BC experienced the record daily minimums.
Despite this two month return to more typical conditions, November marked a return to the
pattern established earlier in the year with record breaking minimum
temperatures and above normal to much above normal daily
maximums.
Current models are also able to reproduce the large - scale
patterns of
temperature during the Last Glacial
Maximum (LGM), indicating an ability to simulate a climate state much different from the present.
For the change in annual mean surface air
temperature in the various cases, the model experiments show the familiar
pattern documented in the SAR with a
maximum warming in the high latitudes of the Northern Hemisphere and a minimum in the Southern Ocean (due to ocean heat uptake) evident in the zonal mean for the CMIP2 models (Figure 9.8) and the geographical
patterns for all categories of models (Figure 9.10).
