The third floor also plays host to La Centrale's
culinary school, designed to connect visitors with Italian chefs in a friendly and educational environment where they can learn how to prepare authentic Italian

meals, but also the inspiring story of D.C. Central Kitchen's efforts to use its
culinary program to change the lives of people desperate for a second chance.
Girls
at the
school really enjoyed designing a healthy three - course
meal including a starter, a main meat dish and main vegetarian dish, before their
culinary delights were put forward to a panel of judges.
Past learning partners have included locals who found a beehive on their property and brought it in to show kindergarten students (sans bees, of course); and a stay -
at - home mom who is passionate about cooking and healthy eating, and teaches students about
culinary arts and creating healthy
meals from what grows in the
school's garden.
