Fort Lauderdale, FL (December 9, 2013)-- Christmas time is just about here, which
means there are plenty of
cookies,
cakes,
and other festive treats to go around.
I
mean if you really think about it, pies are not as huge
and thick like
cake with tons of icing, but not small like a
cookie, almost the perfect dessert size.
I
mean why are there so many chocolate
cake and chocolate chip
cookie recipes out there?
Going gluten - free doesn't have to
mean giving up baked goods like bread,
cakes,
cookies and muffins — but it does make baking a considerably more complicated enterprise.
I was unclear whether you
meant stacking one
cookie sheet on top of the other,
and then putting both round
cake pans on that
and baking together?
So that
means that pumpkin donuts, pumpkin
cookies, pumpkin muffins
AND pumpkin sheet
cake is actually total health food.
When I'm quitting carbs, I
mean I'm quitting: bread, rice, pasta, brown rice
and brown bread,
cakes, tortillas, crackers, pizza,
cookies,
cakes, chips, pure sugar, soda, sugar drinks, french fries, potatoes
and anything that fits that basic profile.
Because eating gluten - free
means eliminating foods like bread, pancakes, pasta, cereal, muffins,
cakes,
and cookies (I swear it's really not that bad!)
Even though the
cookies, brownies, muffins,
and crumble
cakes are at the farmers market, it doesn't
mean they are healthy for you.
You might think that cutting back just
means avoiding
cookies and cake for the day.
This
means removing all bread, pasta, crackers,
cookies,
cakes, muffins, bagels,
and other wheat - based foods, unless they are 100 % wheat - free.
This
means avoiding sweets like
cookies, candies,
cakes, as well as juice, soda
and other sugary beverages like mochaccinos
and caramel lattes.
This
means cutting out processed foods, like
cakes,
cookies and muffins, that contain white rice flour, sugar, corn syrup, cornstarch, potato starch
and tapioca starch.
This
means we should avoid
cakes, pies,
cookies, biscuits, muffins, pancakes
and other highly processed foods.
Unfortunately this
means baked goods that use shortening (
cakes,
cookies, pastries, pies, breads, donuts... etc), margarine,
and most fried foods.
Don't fall for «organic junk foods» — I've been seeing this trend lately — Just because crackers,
cookies,
cakes, cereal,
and corn chips may be labeled «organic», doesn't
mean they are healthy... junk food is still junk food!
Yes, I know it hurts to hear it, but
cakes,
cookies, crackers, microwaved meals, chips, sodas, granola bars, sugary sports drinks or energy drinks,
and 1000's of other products that line our supermarket shelves were never
meant to be part of the human diet, so it's obvious why it causes so many health problems for us.
Carbohydrates are the important part of the diet, but it doesn't
mean that you're free to eat up
cookies and cakes every day.
Maintaining a healthy diet
means (virtually) abstaining from sweet foods — candy,
cakes,
cookies, desserts,
and similar choices, as their primary ingredients have be found to include unhealthy hydrogenated fats, sugars including artificial sugars, colors, preservatives,
and many other man - made chemicals you may want to avoid.
That
means stop consuming soft drinks (they have NO nutritional value whatsoever), ice cream,
cakes,
cookies, candy, adding sugar to your coffee
and / or tea, etc..
I know what you
mean about photographing these
cookies — Last week I had to photograph pumpkin
cookies for a freelance recipe,
and I was getting so annoyed with the fact that the
cookies look like chickpea
