The federal minister for the environment, Greg Hunt, says a series of conditions on the development, including funding for programmes to support the health of the reef, will
mean that the
water quality will actually
improve by 150 per cent.
U.S. air and
water quality have
improved dramatically during the past several decades because of the creation of reasonable federal standards for criteria pollutants, such as sulfur, carbon monoxide, and particulates, and allowing the affected companies to choose the most effective and least expensive
means to comply.
