Skin callipers (which basically
measure skin folds) are also a great option for measuring body fat percentage, but are usually more accurate when completed by a trainer or similar.

Perhaps the most accessible method for
measuring body composition, a
skin fold assessment can be done using either three, four or seven sites (meaning parts of the body).
Although
skin fold assessments are based on a population average,
measuring key areas such as your bicep, tricep, stomach and back can show you how much fat loss you have achieved.
Measuring the thickness of these hanging
folds of
skin provides evidence that there is still a substantial amount of body fat underneath the
skin.
Do yourself a favor, get rid of the scales and replace them with a
measuring tape,
skin fold calipers and, a camera.
The only way to know your true progress is to use a
skin fold caliper to
measure your bodyfat percentage accurately.
