The singleplayer campaign is fun and all, but it's really meant as a sort of extended tutorial to ease you into the game before you jump into the real
meat of the game which is the multiplayer.
The single player in my opinion is merely practice for

game features point back at that key challenge
of taking cover, making the whole experience coherent and consistent: Shields that let you plant a cover where needed, enemy to be used as
meat shield, invulnerable rock worms to hide behind as they move
which let you access a vantage point... All contribute in and deepen the concept
of cover, lending a symbolic nature to gameplay that make it a focused learning experience.
Super
Meat Boy Forever,
which was originally going to be a smartphone - only sequel to the original
game, promises to bring the same features that make the original Super
Meat Boy so engaging: a lot
of obstacles to avoid, colorful worlds and danger behind every corner.
i enjoyed it far more than raging blast
which had very dissatisfying combat system that mainly relied on the specials to be the
meat of combat, I enjoyed looking at it more than playing it,
which I cant say about budokai (though I hate the dragon rush it throws off the skill the
game takes), the intimate combat made the fights more rewarding, but i felt that it would benefit from a limited 3d environment (like storm or the old revolution series), and a lot
of the features that were in the tenkaichi / raging blast series.
The

game is in its 36 additional story chapters added in the Western release (previously DLC) and the robust online features
which has you playing War with other players from around the world in a race to have the best mercenary company.
I don't even like Super
Meat Boy, Bit Trip Runner or other similar
games of which there seem to be legion these days.

The
game is inspired by Niddhogg, but I also saw touches
of Super
Meat Boy and some
of Griptonite Games» handheld titles (The Legend
of Spyro: The Eternal Night, Spider - Man: Web
of Shadows), in the platforming and combat —
which is definitely a good thing!
While Refenes only has one feline companion, McMillen has four - one
of which, the hairless Tammy, played a fairly large role in Indie
Game: The Movie, last year's high - profile film that detailed the team's plight as it created Super
Meat Boy.
