I did make a couple of changes from the original recipe... I
use meatloaf mix in this recipe as it seems to bring in more flavor than just using ground beef.
I prefer to use
meatloaf mix because it gives me the flavors of three different meats, but you can use ground beef, chicken or turkey.
Add
the meatloaf mix, egg, onion and garlic powders and some salt and pepper.
I do use
the meatloaf mix instead of just beef and pork (veal added), and I ALWAYS make at least a triple if not quadruple batch.

You can use either one; I just prefer
the meatloaf mix.

a meatloaf mix of veal, beef, and pork.
Their recipe sneaks in some extra veggies right in
the meatloaf mix (love that of course) and tops it with a tomato sauce.
