"Mech game" refers to a genre of video games that focuses on controlling and piloting giant mechanical robots, also known as mechs, to engage in combat, complete missions, or compete against other players.
Full definition
Most titles before that were all 2D - oriented Gundam or Macross games, and From Software evolved the genre as the first really noteworthy 3D
mech game for home consoles.
The first one feels a bit dated and simplistic, but the second one is definitely one of the
best mech games ever made.
