In EV Drive operation, when the battery - powered drive motor is used for either acceleration or regenerative braking, a clutch disengages the stopped gasoline engine from the drivetrain to eliminate efficiency loss from
mechanical friction in the engine.

Such transmission tweaks include reducing the engine's time spent operating at a very high rotational speed to lower
mechanical friction, or reducing time spent with an open throttle to lower air
friction in the cars cylinders.
This allows for the application of regenerative braking by the front and rear electric motors to slow the vehicle, rather than the hydraulic
friction brakes, under most circumstances, with the additional of
mechanical (
friction) braking
in hard stops.

in displacing horizontally without gaining or losing potential gravitational energy, there is a NEW CONDITION with the moved mass.
