If you've never heard
of a
blog tour before, the best way I can think to describe it is like a digital version
of a book signing — a place where your target
readers are hanging out — so you can
meet them and tell them about your book.
However, I'm thankful for the nice beta
reader I
met on one
of your
blog posts, and to make it easier for her, I plan to only ask her to point out confusing sentences, character inconsistencies, and plot holes.
Instead
of visiting bookstores and
meeting people by reading your book or answering questions, you
meet the
readers where they are - on the
blogs sites that they frequent.
Been there, done that with vanity publishing and vanity literary agency / Learned an expensive lesson before going back to square one, which was picking the brains
of writer friends that I'd first
met as
blog readers.
By posting
blogs such as these, you are
meeting the needs
of online
readers — without selling them anything.
I've had not one but four
readers fly over to Thailand to
meet us, or because they've read one
of my travel
blogs and my posts helped them decide that this is a good home base for them.
Readers of our
blog and accidentally
met people join us and share fuel costs.
If you are a regular
reader of the JD Bliss
blog, then you are already ahead
of the game (i.e. you are not simply sticking your head in the sand and
meeting your billable hour requirements.)
As a long time
reader of your
blog, I can't tell how much joy it brings me to see that you all have finally
met your Sweet P!
Long story short - I ended up «
meeting» Julia on Twitter the night
of the Behold the Lamb concert (turns out Julia is a regular
reader of our
blog.
