Once again I am responding to an article on teacher shortage.What this minister fails to address is the way successive governments have contributed to denigrate and ridicule teachers over the past twenty years.Now they are blaming other factors as the causes
of teachers leaving and I do not see any finger pointing at Ofsted who must take part
of the blame for this crisis.It seems to me that ministers must come clean by holding up their hands and admit that they are part
of the problem.Teachers will
continue to leave until there is a complete reversal by a society which states that this is a noble
profession and one that needs to be cherished and protected instead
of being constantly attacked by various
members in the community.The time for attacking teachers is over and now we can see the real causes for this.Good luck to all those in the teaching
profession.You do a wonderful job amidst trying circumstances.I take my hat off to you.
Initial findings from the latest NEU workload survey,
of 8,173
members, which are being published today (Sunday) at the NEU NUT Section Conference in Brighton, shows the

profession; to promote fellowship and cooperation among

Both solutions will occur because the power
of the news media and
of the internet, interacting, will quickly make widely known these types
of information, the cumulative effect
of which will force governments and the courts to act: (1) the situations
of the thousands
of people whose lives have been ruined because they could not obtain the help
of a lawyer; (2) the statistics as to the increasing percentages
of litigants who are unrepresented and clogging the courts, causing judges to provide more public warnings; (3) the large fees that some lawyers charge; (4) increasing numbers
of people being denied Legal Aid and court - appointed lawyers; (5) the many years that law societies have been unsuccessful in coping with this problem which
continues to grow worse; (6) people prosecuted for «the unauthorized practice
of law» because they tried to help others desperately in need
of a lawyer whom they couldn't afford to hire; (7) that there is no truly effective advertising creating competition among law firms that could cause them to lower their fees; (8) that law societies are too comfortably protected by their monopoly over the provision
of legal services, which is why they might block the expansion
of the paralegal
profession, and haven't effectively innovated with electronic technology and new infrastructure so as to be able to solve this problem; (9) that when
members of the public access the law society website they don't see any reference to the problem that can assure them that something effective is being done and, (10) in order for the rule
of law, the Canadian Charter
of Rights and Freedoms, and the whole
of Canada's constitution be able to operate effectively and command sufficient respect, the majority
of the population must be able to obtain a lawyer at reasonable cost.
However, as a vehicle for
continuing legal education, the Ontario Reports provide an important service to
members of the legal
profession in Ontario.
All this is to take these already excellent lawyers and promote their
continued work as exemplary
members of their
profession.
In a diverse and rapidly changing legal
profession, The Bluebook
continues to provide a systematic method by which
members of the
profession communicate important information to one another about the sources and legal authorities upon which they rely in their work.
So the question is whether CLOC and its
members can keep the energy alive and
continue to drive the market toward even higher performance and improved results, given the grinding drag
of a legal
profession that is loathe to change?
From my perspective, the assumption (as articulated by
members of the
profession) that visible minority licensees are not relatively disadvantaged is simply incorrect and even though the statement
of principles decision has been made, there
continues to be resistance within the legal community including pieces in Law Times, The Toronto Star, The National Post, CBC and page 30
of The Middlesex Law Association's December newsletter.
(2) being content to have the victims
continue to pay for a justice system from which the legal
profession earns much more than do those taxpayers earn, but LSUC will not perform its duties, as required by s. 4.2
of Ontario's Law Society Act, to provide those taxpayers with an affordable lawyer, and its
members with the innovations that enable the production
of affordable legal services;
Remaining a
member of professional bodies means you
continue to receive all communications and notices that will keep you up to speed on developments in the
profession.
Let's ask current Bencher Joseph Groia, who spoke at length to The Lawyers Weekly about his opposition to the LPP: «I would say to the people who want us to
continue: How many more disadvantaged, second - tier lawyers do you want to have called to the bar... and what do you propose to do to help them overcome the stigma that they now are really having to deal with as they try to become fully contributing
members of the
profession?»

members of NPTA's Executive Advisory Board met and made a commitment to research and publish a consensus report on the status
of the pharmacy technician
profession and a guide for states to use as the
profession continues to evolve...

continued commitment to the leadership and professional development
of MCA

of our state association and the counseling
