The current study sought to build on and extend the opportunity created by the Aboriginal Medical Service Western Sydney (AMSWS) receiving funding for a male youth worker to run the Rites of Passage program for boys at the service by: a) extending the program to females by employing a female Aboriginal Youth Mental Health Worker, and b) creating new knowledge about what works in Aboriginal youth mental health promotion by evaluating both the Rites of Passage programs (male and female) to determine: i. the feasibility, acceptability and costs of the pilot project aHealth Worker, and b) creating new knowledge about what works in Aboriginal youth mental health promotion by evaluating both the Rites of Passage programs (male and female) to determine: i. the feasibility, acceptability and costs of the pilot project ahealth promotion by evaluating both the Rites of Passage programs (male and female) to determine: i. the feasibility, acceptability and costs of the pilot project and ii.

This work will assist in determining appropriate universal mental health promotion and targeted early intervention programmes that can bolster strengths and mitigate risks in order to maximise healthy development.

Minimum of 15 clock hours per year of relationship - based education and training, pertaining to the promotion of social - emotional development and / or the practice of infant mental health (eg, regional training, related course work at colleges or universities, infant mental health conference attendance, participation in IMH association sponsored activities such as book club, mentorship group).

Those who have earned Endorsement ® have demonstrated that the individual has completed specialized education, work, in - service training, and reflective supervision / consultation experiences (as defined in Endorsement ® criteria) that have led to competency in the promotion and / or practice of infant mental health.

Infant and early childhood mental health consultation (IECMHC) is a multilevel approach to promotion and prevention that teams mental health professionals with people who work with young children and their families to improve their social, emotional, and behavioral health and development.
