LATOYA RUBY FRAZIER: What attracted me to the mediums of photography and video as an artist were my influences while
studying at Edinboro University of Pennsylvania and Syracuse University with
mentors like Kathe Kowalski, a photographer and writer committed to photographing
women in prison, families living below the poverty line in Erie, Pennsylvania, and her own mother's illness and death.

women and minority lawyers who appreciate the importance of having
mentors, know how to find and attract
mentors, and make the effort to do so, established many valuable mentoring relationships.
Studies of the legal profession consistently show that one of the significant barriers to the advancement of
women and minority lawyers is the inability of these lawyers to find
mentors.
A recent Ontario
study found that almost all
women lawyers who were singled out as notably successful or rising stars in their firms identified a strong
mentor who championed them to the firm and provided valuable training and client introductions.
