In Focus an attractive, rookie con
artist, Jess Barrett (Margot Robbie) is
mentored by seasoned grifter Nicky Spurgeon (Will Smith) until romance blossoms, prompting Nicky to break off both their personal and
professional associations.
This project is designed to deliver 22 months of
mentoring and
professional development
by ten selected mentors for eleven UK - based emerging
artists whose work engaged with the topic of the diaspora.
Over the following six months the fabrication of the winning work is supported
by the award and the winner is
mentored by a team of experienced
professionals - engineers, consultants and
artists - to ensure the concept is delivered to the exacting standards required of work to be installed in this unique, high - profile public space.
During a 12 - month period, participants attend monthly
professional development workshops, receive studio visits
by art
professionals,
mentoring by an A.I.R. Gallery
artist, and curatorial support from A.I.R. Staff.
Building on a highly successful inaugural programme in 2015, StudioBook will provide participants with two weeks of concentrated seminars, workshops and one - to - one
mentoring sessions, led
by established
artists, curators and arts
professionals.
Since completing their BA at Sheffield Hallam University, the four
artists were selected to take part in S1 Artspace's
professional development programme which provides subsidised studio and
mentoring by S1's studio
artists, staff and S1 Associates.
Tom, a graduate of University of Brighton's BA (Hons) Photography, will receive a year - long
professional development and creative
mentoring award, lead
by renowned
artist Jonathan Parsons and supported
by the participating Platform Graduate Awards galleries, and a cash bursary of # 2500 to support creative and
professional development.
The pavilion also forms part of the 22 - month, joint ICF and UAL project «Diaspora Platform», which is designed to deliver
mentoring and
professional development
by eleven selected mentors for twelve UK - based emerging
artists whose work engages with the topic of the diaspora.
Working with SAW staff, Fellows will assist with
mentoring other residents in their
professional development
by participating in
artist presentations, studio visits and critiques, open studios, and resident
artist exhibitions.
