mesh baby bumpers that they claim mitigate the suffocation risk presented by bumpers, but there have been no scientific studies to assess their claim.

We were considering
mesh bumpers (Breathe
Baby or something like that is the brand).
It is a fully
mesh bumper so if
baby did somehow roll into it they would still be able to breath, and it provides the necessary barrier over the posts so that
baby's pacifier or limbs can't go through.
A
mesh bumper guard is the perfect compromise because the
baby can roll right over to the
bumper guard, get his face pushed right into the net and still be able to breathe.
Some
baby gear companies have started selling
mesh crib
bumpers for parents who want to reduce the risk of SIDS but also worry about crib slats causing injury.
You can for instance buy a
bumper pad for the
baby crib, made out of breathable material like
mesh for reduction of suffocation hazards.
