the message of a savior if the people can not even follow 10 simple rules that were given to them?

of the Gospel
message and the commandments and example
of your
savior.
The
message of Jesus is FORGIVENESS but to qualify for it, and to personally receive it, you will one day have to admit by faith that you need this forgiveness that He purchased on the cross, and that He truly is who He claimed to be, THE ONLY TRUE LORD AND
SAVIOR, Who alone is worthy
of all worship and praise!
To summarize our lesson for today: Paul reminds us that the vast Christian world needs to rise above divisive controversies and heal our differences; to adhere to the basic and undistorted gospel
message («We are saved by the grace
of God through faith in Jesus Christ»); to draw close to Christ and therefore to one another; and to follow our
savior Christ, the Prince
of Peace, in reaching out to the lost and alleviating the suffering
of others.
Rather, I want to emphasize the alienness
of the Christian
message as a whole: This
savior, whom the Gospel proclaims, is an intruder, one who breaks into human reality like a «thief in the night» — unexpected, unrecognized, indeed unappealing.
What the British commentator cites as his evidence
of anti-Semitism impresses me as being pro-Jewish, an eagerness on the part
of a converted Jew to convince his own people
of the truth
of the
message of Jesus and to offer them his
savior as their
savior, too.
If the
message is the gospel, that we are sinners in need
of a
savior and that
savior is Christ, and they can land thousands in the seat to hear it then they stand a good chance
of success.
The
message redirects him from being a draft dodger to a hero in the First World War rescuing, undoubtedly, the future
savior of Warner Brothers.
