When energy metabolism becomes dysfunctional, when we have deficiencies in the
nutrients needed to support these pathways, or when we have genetic predispositions to tolerate certain
dietary factors poorly, the aldehydes may accumulate instead of being quickly
metabolized to other safer molecules.
