I used to have the good feeds first thing in the morning when dad was still around, while older child took nap and then bedtime and
then middle of the night feeding.
Your infant will probably have given up
middle of the night feedings by this age (although some breastfed infants continue to have a feeding in the middle of the night).
If he won't go back to bed until he is fed or quickly wakes up again, then you likely need to continue
with middle of the night feedings for a few more weeks or months.
Between middle of the night feedings, the spit - up, and growing mountain of diapers, you might feel as if your entire world has become your newborn, and you definitely don't feel sexy to your partner.
I am still hoping to cut out that middle of the night feeding!!
My son is now 14 months old and I already weaned him off
middle of nights feeding by letting him calm down with us in bed and repeatedly asking him to go to sleep, to go «mimi» (Spanish baby talk) then transfer him back to his crib.
It is as good, if not better than I hoped as I was thinking about it during
middle of the night feedings.
There were two occassions with Foo that I fell asleep with her in my arms in bed after
a middle of the night feeding.
We added the clusterfeeding at 5 weeks of age and normally
her middle of the night feedings are dreamfeeds also.
A desk chair just did not cut it in terms of comfort during
those middle of the night feedings.
She went to bed at 8, had a dream feed at 10, woke once between 2 - 4 for
a middle of the night feeding, then slept till we woke up.
I bet a dream feed would work for you though, to at least prevent
the middle of the night feeding.
My questions are: Should he be able to go longer between the dream feed and
the middle of the night feed (right now it's 4 or 5 hrs)?
he goes to bed easily for all naps, with little or no crying, and falls back asleep after
our middle of the night feeds easily.
Any advice to cut at least one of
the middle of the night feedings out would be VERY appreciated =) Thanks!
While I was laying there listening, something dawned on me... we are trying to wean
this middle of the night feeding.
Should I just decrease the time that I feed him each night so that he eventually gets used to not eating much during
those middle of the night feedings?
I was just wondering when I could start working on dropping
her middle of the night feeding?
This is generally the last time I feed him before he wakes up between 2 - 3 am for
his middle of the night feeding.
My 2 - 3 week old is regularly waking for
the middle of night feed and then crying continuously pretty much for a solid 2 and 1/2 hours at least.
My husband and I made the mistake of DF her at 11:30 p for every DF, not even knowing that was considered
a middle of the night feeding.
Then he'll usually sleep 6 - 7 hours, and will wake for
a middle of the night feed around 3ish.
I didn't want to go back to
middle of the night feedings, so I kept the dream feed.
I figured that this meant it was time to drop
the middle of the night feeding.
Now we're struggling with why he sometimes cries after
that middle of the night feed instead of going to sleep.
The same is true for
his middle of the night feeding (anywhere between 1 - 3 am, whenever he wakes up)- he wakes up during it, and then I have to try and get him to go back to sleep.
