on a strong defensive performance... I think there's a lot of solidarity at the back and we got a lot of help from
the midfield players because they defended well from the front.
«I'd like to see Wayne develop into
a midfield player because he can play a little bit like Paul Scholes did.
Not exact matches
Himself and Alexis would help add a little bite to the
midfield, and
because Alexis is such a special
player there would not be as much pressure on Wilshere to always be producing chances and finishes.
iwobi on Wolcott as winger will not work for a whole season team on there manager will figure how to defend against us very easily
because they both come into the middle not on the outside so there no space for the other
midfield to work
players like.
I personally don't see Arsenal beating City not
because we can't but
because the central
midfield area is not reliable.A
player like Coquelin must start tomorrow in place of Xhaka who can't defend.I would rather we changed our formation to 4 -2-3-1.
Once again though, Arsenal fans were not too hard on our former captain, as Wenger had the option to buy him back but chose not to, mainly
because we now had a number of
players like Cazorla, Ramsey and Ozil in the centre of
midfield.
Just
because our last two captains Arteta and Vermaelen spent more time in the treatment room than on the pitch does not make it a good idea, so it seemed logical that the boss would hand it to another
player who would be playing and it was reported that it could be our
midfield maestro Santi Cazorla.
I am no Flamini fan but seriously, the OX just pissed off and left him to cover a massive gap in our
midfield, the guy tried and was shouting at
players because they were bombing forward and leaving him alone to handle Stirling and Courthino.
When discussing contract terms in the summer of 2014, club CEO Karl - Heinz Rummenigge refused to give Kroos more than # 10m a year
because he didn't think he was a «world - class
player,» so ex-Bayer Leverkusen
midfielder Stefan Reinartz says.
Now Arsenal really needs to strengthen the
midfield area,
because we don't have another
player like Cazorla in the squad.
oh and just to help you out ah little, please take into consideration, that deep lying
midfielder who can play through the lines, has not been available for over a year,
because if the man who has assembled this group of
players can't improve them, then is it the
players or the manager?
Bottom line, if he is angered bench the
players who were not good enough and play those who deserve some game time based on the Southampton game or on games where they had a positive impact: - Take Özil out and play Ox in the hole (he has to understand your the highest paid
player of the club, your given freedom like nobody else and your even seeking even more money with a new contract you can't play like that ever and go AWOL)- Put Sanchez on the wing or up top but put Welbeck in (Walcott didn't track back near enough for the Alsonso goal)- Iwobi has been bright from the wing let him play there - Xhaka has to go back in the holding
midfield role and I would take out Coquelin
because he could've taken a foul on the hazard's goal.
Reading the thread on this article and I noticed a lot of people naming strikers we could have gotten in past transfer windows that have gone to other club and failed, Balotelli, Falcao, Martinez, Boney etc are recurring names in all the comments, and am sat here thinking
because they failed in thee clubs does not necessarily mean they would have failed if we had pulled out our fingers and hot them back then, Balotelli aside I strongly believe all of these
players could have made a difference playing infront of our
midfield and given the kind of attention and care Wenger gives Giroud and Walcott, adapting our play to suit them and giving them chances after chances even when its blatantly obvious they are average
players so please lets not keep using that as an excuse for Wenger's ultra careful attitude in the transfer market, they could have failed with us, or they could have been massive for us, all speculations.
haven't you seen Giroud drifting to the wings
because our
players who were supposed to be playing there were too busy at the center of
midfield doing God knows what?
«Cazorla is important at the start of the game when the ball comes from our defenders,
because he can pass from deep
midfield to high
midfield better than everybody and get out of pressure,» Wenger told the media after the game (via Arsenal
Player).
Liverpool had a terrible defence but almost won the league
because they had the best striker in the world, now imagine having the best
player and the best striker with some of the best
midfielders on the globe, you could win anything with just one one top class defender and 3 average ones.
Pogba is picked on
because he's our best and most expensive outfield
player, but Mourinho has primarily played him as a holding
midfielder, which I think we can agree isn't what he was bought to do, and is not what he's good at.
ANY attacking minded
midfielder would struggle playing alongside Flamini that's a FACT, Aaron had to play roles that aren't part of his strength
because no other
midfielder was available, blame the manager NOT the
player.
One of the other reasons we lost I believe was
because we didn't play our best
players of those who were available and played a
midfielder in defence who hasn't played there before against the best team in England, yeah of course that doesn't mean we would have won.
Im all for backing our
players but Giroud better than Higuain is buffoonery don't be fooled
because he plays for Napoli he's maintained a goal every 2 games ratio his whole career and he's a special finisher with our
midfield he would be unstoppable Aguero didn't used to get benched for the national team for him for no reason
I can not blame one
player only,
because the creative
midfielders also misplaced their passes and the attackers couldn't finish the easy chances
Elneny was everywhere he was the boss of the
midfield he ran after the ball he closed down
players very well I do nt know what match you were watching but I suggest you watch it again and keep an eye on elneny and what he is doing debuchy was commanding and even took a yelow for the team have a look at the stats and how many balls we intercepted and how many fowls the game was pure tactics west ham had no chance this is the level of football for me it is top level
because you go out there you control the game you boss it you win it for me the team effort was 100 % the work rate was 100 % and if you want to learn football this match is a text book match to observe learn and execute
Elneny in his first season slightly outperformed Xhaka in his first season. To me he's far better. He has improved so much this season and I hope he won't be benched. He's a defensive
midfielder but people confuse him to be a box to box
player just
because he's everywhere. He's really good in 1v1's and is usually positionally excellent. His passing is also very good.I look forward to seeing him build on his performances and have a break out season.
He is dangerous
because he is creative and a team
player like Sanchez, due to the fact that he played in
midfield area when he was younger.
«Having a
player like Ozil in
midfield and doing one - twos with him is fantastic
because he is a quality
player going forward.
Even this summer I still don't expect Wenger to get a defensive
midfielder (
because of that attacking in our dna bs) or a top box2box
player Wenger is as clueless as they come.
I agree and it's Hummels, Sneiderlin, and Dybala from your list for me... We need some serious presence in our team mainly in the
midfield area
because we're either too small or weak minded and that's unacceptable to the fans... Love Özil and what he can do but if we manage to acquire
players of presence this summer that can no doubt cover him while he floats and he still goes missing then I'm afraid it will have been a very expensive mistake with him... I'm at a point now where I'm completely numb to us losing
because I don't expect us to win and that's bad.
Arsenal desperately need more combative
players, especially in
midfield,
because we're so easily bullied out of games.
I've always thought Elneny a decent squad
player, but I must re-evaluate things
because this is one of the weakest Arsenal central
midfield known from my memory.
In the
midfield, (including RWB & LWB) we have a whole bunch of tweeners... none offer the full package, none make sense in our manager's current favourite formation, except for Sead on the left and Ox on the right, and all of them have never shown any consistency for more than a heartbeat... Sead, who I'm including in this category
because of our present formation, looks like a positive addition, minus his occasional brain farts, but I would rather see what he could do in a back 4 before making my mind up... Ox, who has never played better, which isn't saying much considering his largely underwhelming play in previous seasons, seems to have found a home in this new formation; unfortunately, can we really expect this oft - injured
player to handle the taxing duties that come with said position over the long haul, not to mention, it looks like he has no intention of staying... Ramsey has relied on the empathy that stems from his gruesome injury years ago and the excitement that was generated a few years back when he finally seemed to put in altogether, but on the whole he has been a big disappointment (neither he nor the Ox have scored enough to warrant a regular spot)... Wiltshire should be put on a weekly contract then played until he suffers his first injury, if and when that occurs he should be shipped - out and no one should very be allowed to say his name on club grounds ever again... Elnehy & Coq are average
players who couldn't make any of the top 7 teams currently in the EPL... both have showed some great energy on the pitch, but neither are top quality and no good team can afford to have that many average
players on their bench playing the same position, especially with Coq's injury history / discipline concerns and Elheny's headless chicken tendencies... as for Xhaka, his tenure here so far has been incredibly underwhelming... we know he has some skills to provide the long ball but his defensive work is piss poor and he gives the ball away too cheaply and far too often... finally, the enigma himself, Ozil, so much skill with his left foot but his presence has been more frustrating than uplifting... in many respects his failure has been directly related to the failure of this club to provide him with the necessary
players up front, minus Sanchez of course, and unless something drastic happens very soon his legacy will be largely a negative one (much like Wenger's)
Inevitably, a defensive
midfielder will find themselves tackling
because they operate in the area of the pitch where all the opponent's genius
players are, but most of the tackling and dirty work is done by the box to box
midfielder.
Give him some rest for PSG But I think most of the
players playing Southampton will play PSG I think we should make good use of our Central
Midfielders for both matches
because we have plenty of quality
players: Ozil, Cazorla, Xhaka, Coquelin and Eleney We have only 3 CBs available at the moment Koscielny, Mustafi and Holding
I don't know where people are getting this rumour about Kante to Arsenal his position is sorted already with Le Coq and Elneny we are going to get 1
player in
midfield because thats the area which is loaded with
players.
Chelsea is champion but the will buy De Griezman from Atletico de Madrid they have the best defence in the league, the best
Midfield in the league with De Griezman, hazard and Costa they will be came invecibles that what Mourinho want to take from Wenger and do not forget that Wenger will never beat Mourinho, we just need 3 world class
players just like Henry said, But Wenger have no ambitions to win the league, next year will be the same excuses why we fail again, Mourinho sold Mata even so he was voted the best Chelsea
player the previous two years, and Wenger want to keep ineffective
players like Walcott, Wiltshere, Diaby, Flamini, Ryo.Sanogo.Welbeck, sad but that is our fate with Wenger only problem for us the risk of loosing
player like Alexis will be great if we do not win next year, we must to buy like Henry said, like Carzola is saying, we lost so many good
players because they want to win and they are winning with others clubs.why we do not give ouself a chance of winning the EPL?
It could be
because he keeps getting shifted back out to
midfield, he's not a natural striker so I don't think it helps changing a
players duties from one game to the next, we seen what it done with Calum after a confident start.
i agree we also need to get rid of Arteta, Diaby, Podolski and Campbell probably. This story worries me
because the squad is overloaded with
midfielders, yet we still need a top DM, the guys i've mentioned in
midfield clearly don't come up to scratch imo.Another worrying developement is Wenger talking up Theo playing thru the middle, i sincerely hope this isn't another attempt at trying to get out of buying a top CF, Theo's a useful
player but hes not a real CF
Goetze would be us overloading a
midfield with similar
players and becoming predictable
because of it.
Wengers should have just added a very good DM and another quicker defender to treat those kind of problems but eish he is too stubborn to drop his new captain or Flamini and he had to change the formation to make sure the
midfield players defend and attack in numbers with one DM to always protect the defense but this is not happening and Wenger will not change that until maybe 2 or 3 years
because he is not under any pressure to do well after all!
In 2013/14 — when Aaron got fatigued / injured around December we started to drop as a team
because he was so pivotal in that
midfield, his backup being Arteta (a decent
player who gets his fair share of flack, but is not top tier if we're being honest) wasn't able to step up to the plate and deliver both performance wise and in the goals department.
The
players like him
because he is a very unselfish
player and has great eyes to see chances, but he can not help Arsenal dominate the
midfield area.
I hope you realize the reason he's injured is
because players tackle him probably more than any other Arsenal
midfielder.
We have Debuchy, Sanchez, Ramsey, Wilshere, Campbell, Rosicky, Chamberlain, Walcott, Welbeck... All these
players have pace and work rate, as well as technical skill, but we can't tell them to press high when they lose the ball or to bring chaos to the opponent's defence
because not only do we lack cover in
midfield and central defense, we also play them out of position.
Ordinary
players like Mark Allbrigthon and some the others at Leicester will run all day stifling our so called creative
midfield because they know we aren't going to make one or more direct 40 yard passes to our so called strikers nullifying the Leicester
midfield but, make 79 two yard passes to gain 5 yards of tight space on the sidelines.
Our 3 back is just so wrong. We don't have natural wingbacks even in this formation. It also seems to me that lots of people here believe if you're good at right or left fullback then automatically you're good at RWB / LWB which quite frankly is untrue. That's why Oxlade Chamberlain can be considered at RWB but not right back.At RWB or LWB you're asking too much in terms of attack from Bellerin and Kolasinac.A proper wing back can be viewed as a more defensive winger which quite frankly none of them are and they don't possess the flexibility too to play that way.Our
midfielders are also not disciplined enough
because in 3 back there's a huge gap in the centre of the field that must be covered by our CM's so indiscipline only means disaster. We also have Ozil who looks like he's playing at RW in 3 back.In that we're limiting his impact
because Ozil takes on his man
because he wants to not
because he likes to.You can't play such
players at the wing. He's a proper No. 10 who likes to be given freedom. That's why Ozil plays likes he's lazy on the ball and stuff. It's
because he wants to be free and for that you need to put him at No. 10.
If you're not going to invest in a legitimate DM who can actually play at this level, then you might as well play nobody and just roll with your best 3 attacking
midfielders,
because playing a
player who clearly isn't good enough anymore hurts the team more than having no DM would.
I always had doubts ever since when we signed him from Real Madrid
because I've watched his games before and I remember thinking he's not the type to dominate the
midfield and we alsoalhave do not have the type of
players for him to thread passes through such as Ronaldo, Bale or Benzema.
Cazorla is an amazing
player and owns central
midfield when he plays Even if Cazorla plays half the season or one third of the season, he is still worth having
because of his quality.
He doesn't have the width of the pitch to cover, he doesn't have to track back every time (
because we play a loaded
midfield) and he doesn't often get beaten by
players and need to chase them.
When you read the title, the name Moussa Dembele may pop up in your mind as the
midfielder from down the road at White Hart Lane, however fear not Gooners
because thankfully he isn't the
player in question here.
I understand the logic behind your thinking and I agree, this could be lethal, but it then means wilshere ramsey flamini and arteta are bench
players or have to be sold
because none of them can operate as the sole
midfielder in front of our back four, arteta is probably the most well rounded for this but against better opposition I don't think he has the physique or pace to really command that area, he has the intelligence to read the game but without the other attributes he can only do so much.
