Let's get real here.It is very unlikely that ANY professional player will ever say anything derogatory about a teammate that has just left the club.If Jack had said about Coq - «Grew up playing with him

If we manage to replace those
who leave, as well as bringing
in two top top
world class striker + defensive
midfielder / central defender, I'd say the squad is about good enough to take a dig at PL trophy and CL semi's.
This is an incredibly difficult question to answer for a variety of reasons, most importantly because over the years our once vaunted «beautiful» style of play has become a shadow of it's former self, only to be replaced by a less than stellar «plug and play» mentality where players play out of position and adjustments / substitutions are rarely forthcoming before the 75th minute... if you look at our current players, very few would make sense
in the traditional Wengerian system... at present, we don't have the personnel to move the ball quickly from deep - lying position, efficient one touch
midfielders that can make the necessary through balls or the disciplined and pacey forwards to stretch defences into wide positions, without the aid of the backs coming up into the final 3rd, so that we can attack the defensive lanes
in the same clinical fashion we did years ago... on this current squad, we have only 1 central defender on staf, Mustafi,
who seems to have any prowess
in the offensive zone or
who can even pass two zones through so that we can advance play quickly out of our own end (I have seen some inklings that suggest Holding might have some offensive qualities but too early to tell)... unfortunately Mustafi has a tendency to get himself
in trouble when he gets overly aggressive on the ball... from our backs out wide, we've seen pace from the likes of Bellerin and Gibbs and the spirited albeit offensively stunted play of Monreal, but none of these players possess the skill - set required
in the offensive zone for the new Wenger scheme which requires deft touches, timely runs to the baseline and consistent crossing, especially when Giroud was playing and his ratio of scored goals per clear chances was relatively low (better last year though)... obviously I like Bellerin's future prospects, as you can't teach pace, but I do worry that he regressed last season, which was obvious to Wenger because there was no way he would have used Ox as the right side wing - back so often knowing that Barcelona could come calling
in the off - season, if he thought otherwise... as for our
midfielders, not a single one, minus the more confident Xhaka I watched played for the Swiss national team a couple years ago,
who truly makes sense under the traditional Wenger model... Ramsey holds onto the ball too long, gives the ball away cheaply far too often and abandons his defensive responsibilities on a regular basis (doesn't score enough recently to justify): that being said, I've always thought he does possess a little something special, unfortunately he thinks so too... Xhaka is a little too slow to ever boss the
midfield and he tends to telegraph his one true strength, his long ball play: although I must admit he did get a bit better during some points
in the latter part of last season... it always made me wonder why whenever he played with Coq Wenger always seemed to play Francis
in a more advanced role on the pitch... as for Coq, he is way too reckless at the wrong times and has exhibited little offensive prowess yet finds himself
in and around the box far too often... let's face it Wenger was ready to throw him
in the trash heap when injuries forced him to use Francis and then he had the nerve to act like this was all part of a bigger Wenger constructed plan... he like Ramsey, Xhaka and Elneny don't offer the skills necessary to satisfy the quick transitory nature of our old offensive scheme or the stout defensive mindset needed to protect the defensive zone so that our offensive players can remain aggressive
in the final third... on the front end, we have Ozil, a player of immense skill but stunted by his physical demeanor that tends to offend, the fact that he's been played out of position far too many times since arriving and that the players
in front of him, minus Sanchez, make little to no sense considering what he has to offer (especially Giroud); just think about the quick counter-attack offence
in Real or the space and protection he receives
in the German National team's
midfield, where teams couldn't afford to focus too heavily on one individual... this player was a passing «specialist» long before he arrived
in North London, so only an arrogant or ignorant individual would try to reinvent the wheel and / or not surround such a talent with the necessary components...
in regards to Ox, Walcott and Welbeck, although they all possess serious talents I see them
in large part as headless chickens
who are on the injury table too much, lack the necessary first - touch and / or lack the finishing flair to warrant their inclusion
in a regular starting eleven; I would say that, of the 3, Ox showed the most upside once we went to a back 3, but even he became a bit too consumed by his pending contract talks before the season ended and that concerned me a bit... if I had to choose one of those 3 players to stay on it would be Ox due to his potential as a plausible alternative to Bellerin
in that wing - back position should we continue to use that formation...
in Sanchez, we get one of the most committed skill players we've seen on this squad for some years but that could all change soon, if it hasn't already of course... strangely enough, even he doesn't make sense given the constructs of the original Wenger offensive model because he holds onto the ball too long and he will give the ball up a little too often
in the offensive zone... a fact that is largely forgotten due to his infectious energy and the fact that the numbers he has achieved seem to justify the means... finally, and
in many ways most crucially, Giroud, there is nothing about this team or the offensive system that Wenger has traditionally employed that would even suggest such a player would make sense as a starter... too slow, too inefficient and way too easily dispossessed... once again, I think he has some special skills and, at times, has showed some
world - class qualities but he's lack of mobility is an albatross around the necks of our offence... so when you ask
who would be our best starting 11, I don't have a clue because of the 5 or 6 players that truly deserve a place
in this side, 1 just arrived, 3 aren't under contract beyond 2018 and the other was just sold to Juve... man, this is theraputic because following this team is like an addiction to heroin without the benefits
this window has just finished i am already thinking about
who we will get for the january window we might try for khedira on a really low offer as he is free agent almost would help boost numbers
in midfield in the new year as we will no doubt need to filling the numbers about then also i will hold my hands up and say i was wrong this morning for giving wenger stick and saying welbeck is rubbish i have been out
in the cold light of day and had a chance to reevaluate the situation and realized that this could be a canny shrew transfer on wenger behalf actually if wenger can turn the clock back and work his magic on welbeck and get him scoring goals and improve his game then we could have a great underrated signing on our hands its wengers absolute trust
in him that might be what makes him a great player as this is something that he never had at old mordor if anybody can make him a
world beater wenger can he loves this little pet projects improving players against the odds welbeck has the skillset to be high class player upfornt he just needs to work very hard on his finishing i think once he gets a few goals under his belt he will settle
in fine and he is a team player you could put him on the left against man city to shore up that side and he will put
in a great shift without a complaint that could be his biggest asset to us or on the right whenever we need him there ithinkwenger might start himon the left against city to protect the left back against navas and i bet you if he does a great job we will take a shine to him quickly i am hopeing he will be one of those wenger gems that he finds and polishes up to a high finish i must admit i was annoyed as some other gunners were at not signing d / m and c / h but if wenger does win the league with this lot it will be his greatest win yet and what might play
in to our hands is the unpredictable nature of the league
in the last few seasons if we get on a good run at the right time we might be hard to stop look at city they should have never lost to stoke but the result is there
in black and white for all to see and i think chelsea will hit the skids after a while to just because cesc and costa are doing well now thats there main threat but teams will work out how to stop them as the season goes on and chelsea will become predictable i think we might just do well this season after all

Honestly, paulinho is a disgrace to a
midfield that once boasted of xavi deco etc As for the others I don't think details are necessary, the bottom line is that for a board with a sporting director Barca made a huge mistake
in allowing lucho sign such players (he wasn't responsible for paulinho but he gave them such ideas), from now on we should keep a group of
world class players (like RM), coaches
who Believe
in our PHILOSOPHY only should come and use these players to give us our football back, valverde is not successful because of messi only, he is successful because the core of this team is a group of the most technically gifted and intelligent players
in the
world, the board knows this and so do RM, that's why we are chasing players like fdj, deligt, and even alaba, because once this core of la masia talent is gone we would be useless if there are no adequate replacements, this board must continue signing replacements for our core and for once!
The skillful attacker has been at the club since 2010, establishing himself as one of the best
midfielders in the
world, though he is another
who was thought to be considering his future at the club with the imminent arrival of Gareth Bale from Tottenham.
Are you really naive enough to believe that Wenger would bring anyone into this current locker room that is going to be given a strong voice... have you not been watching, listening or reading about our club for years... Lehman is a blind Wenger follower, which is the only reason he was even considered... just for a second think of all the strong personalities that have played for this club that have never been seriously considered even though they have expressed legitimate interest
in participating
in the coaching process... even worse, think of all the former greats
who aren't even allowed on the same pitch as Wenger because they have offered their advice and / or criticism to the infallible one... I dare you to find a manager that has distanced himself from his former players as much as this man... it's the very reason why only one player I can think of has ever returned to play for Wenger and that was Flamini, which was hilarious considering we were desperately looking for a top quality defensive
midfielder but Wenger could somehow find no one better than Flamini
in the whole wide
world... let's face it this club was simply trying to appease it's disgruntled fans by declaring that Wenger would no longer be given Ca rte Blanche when it came to the backroom staff so they probably asked him to give them a list of those
who he would allow
in the locker room... on that list he wrote Lehman, Pires and Bergkamp, likely because the first two are the only former players
who haven't publicly questioned his horrible decision - making and the last one because he won't get
in an airplane
No matter how you slice it, this admission is reason enough for termination of both Wenger and Gazidis... this owner,
who has personally poisoned every major sporting organization he currently owns
in North America (Rams, Avalanche & Nuggets), has no regard for the concerns of the fans, just ask anyone
in St. Louis, home of the once - vaunted «Greatest Show on Earth»... they had to endure numerous losing campaigns under his reign, before suffering the ultimate humiliation, as he moved the team to Los Angeles to quench his seemingly unending financial thirst... do you think it's a coincidence that ever since his arrival both Wenger and Gazidis have made grand claims each and every May to secure season ticket sales then fail to live up to the billing... they will do anything to make money except the very things that would make the most sense from a soccer perspective: buying a
world - class striker since RVP, a Viera - like boss
in the
midfield and a dominant, physical CB
in the mold of Adams or Sol... let's face it, they didn't even try
We have now a very good DM we have now a good back 4 with one of the best right backs
in world football we have a mix
in midfield again good and now we have a new CF
who I think will fit right
in.
Nothing like one underachiever blowing smoke up the ass of another... we know that Ozil has some incredible technical gifts, but to be considered the best you have to bring more than just assists to the table... for me, a top player has to possess a more well - rounded game, which doesn't mean they need to be a beast on both ends of the pitch, but they must have the ability to take their game to another level when it matters most... although he amassed some record - like stats early on, it set the bar too high, so when people expected him to duplicate those numbers each year the pressure seemed to get the best of our soft - spoken star... obviously that's not an excuse for what has happened
in the meantime, but it's important to make note of a few things: (1) his best year was a transition year for many of the traditionally dominant teams
in the EPL, so that clearly made the numbers appear better than they actually were and (2) Wenger's system, or lack thereof, didn't do him any favours; by playing him out of position and by not acquiring
world - class striker and / or right - side forward that would best fit an Ozil - centered offensive scheme certainly hurt his chances to repeat his earlier peformances, (3) the loss of Cazorla,
who took a lot of pressure off Ozil
in the
midfield and was highly efficient when it came to getting him the ball
in space, negatively impacted his effectiveness and (4) he likewise missed a good chunk of games and frankly never looked himself when he eventually returned to the field... overall the Ozil experiment has had mixed reviews and rightfully so, but I do have some empathy for the man because he has always carried himself the same way, whether for Real or the German National team, yet he has only suffered any lengthy down periods with Arsenal... to me that goes directly to this club's inability to surround him with the necessary players to succeed, especially for someone
who is a pass first type of player; as such, this simply highlights our club's ineffective and antiquated transfer policies... frankly I'm disappointed
in both Ozil and our management team for not stepping up when it counted because they had a chance to do something special, but they didn't have it
in them... there is no one that better exemplifies our recent history than Ozil, brief moments of greatness undercut by long periods of disappointing play, only made worse by his mopey posturing like a younger slightly less awkward Wenger... what a terribly waste
who is one of the best
midfielders in the
world and its not even July 1st.
ridiculous... whatever he is
in midfield he was a complete waste of a player on the wing... lacked pace and touch and did nt go past players... if wenger does nt invest
in another
world class attacker this summer we will always be nearly theres... giroud has improved undoubtedly but against top class defenders he is just another journeyman from ligue un... bellerin certainly our top choice fullback now hazard did nt get a look
in... coquelin carzola ozil sanchez working together... so if we invest properly
in summer we can overhaul this lot
who are no great team for sure..
my opinion is that OG has proven himself
in the last calendar year to be a top striker, its only us Arsenal supporters
who don't rate him the way the footballing
world see him, this season he has the best minute to scoring ratio
in the EPL, if he was playing for Chelsea we would all be wishing he was playing for us for double the salary and pay 60 to 70 million to buy him, almost every club has striker, defensive
midfielders, and goalkeeper problems but not us we have a full squad for the first time for a ling time but some how we don't rise to the challenge
But when people are saying we should sign X-player
who contributed well last season while playing every single game for «depth» sure, on paper it looks great, but a lot of players hit patches of form that may not necessarily be given that opportunity here, as there may be someone else
in the squad
who hits the ground running and contributes straight away... If Coquelin, Arteta, Flamini, Wilshere, Ramsey, AOC, Ozil, Cazorla, Rosicky are all fit and firing, I think you're sorely mistaken if you think anything but a truly
world - class
midfielder would be looking at those names and not potentially evaluating their first - team opportunities.
Currently on loan back

who have a litany of players on loan at various clubs around the

love your articles galen this just proves the sheer stupidity and arrogance of our manager what are players like ozil and giroud still doing at arsenal after their first season ozil should probably be sold back to shalke
in a soft league and
who knows he might play his best football and it might help
in his national team form cazorla is a good player but not
world class he can not be classified on the same level against players like silva iniesta and the old arsenal fabregas sanchez is also good but he needs to add more to his game for him to be put on the same level with
world beaters like suarez neymar and bale koscienly is also good but he has too many injury troubles coquelin is a class player but he is not
world class he is good technically but not a dominant
midfielder like schneiderlin and fernandinho as for cech he is there among the best keepers and he is the only positive
in this arsenal team.Needs to work on his distribution though the back four is solid but has alot of light weights strong and powerful foward might find it easy
Paulinho,
who, like, Vertonghen returned late from the
World Cup, starts
in midfield alongside Algeria international Nabil Bentaleb.
which is certainly not a slight on the young french national player; like him or not, Sanchez has provided some real
world - class performances for club and country
in recent years... if you do this move, you need to really clean house or face some serious consequences for the foreseeable future... half measures are rarely rewarded, that's how we got here... tear down the wall... we need to get rid of Giroud, not because he isn't a talented player, his skill - set simply doesn't make sense if we hope to maximize the offensive potential of a quick passing, one - touch scheme... we need to evolve, like Barcelona,
who realized you needed to have clinical finishers or face a mind - numbing future of horizontal passes and largely ineffective crosses... Barca went and got Suarez, even though they had Messi and Neymar on the roster (just imagine the possibilities — another
in the litany of Wenger «what ifs»)... we need to be as clinical
in the boardroom as on the pitch... accept nothing less or move on... personally I would move on from Welbeck, Giroud and Walcott, even Ox if he isn't all
in... I think the most intriguing player might be Perez, which runs counter to the thoughts
in my head when he arrived late last summer... we need a deep lying DM with quick feet and long ball potential,
midfielders who can counter quickly even when they are spread out and 4 or 5 players
who know how to attack the lanes (kind of a cross between Barca, Dortmund and Monaco)... this is seriously an achievable goal, one that logically should have been achieved quite a few years ago... did no one
in the Arsenal organization see the financial restructuring of the football universe... think of the players we could have had but we weren't willing to cough up the dough only for those individuals to have their value double or triple within a 12 to 24 month period... even if just from an investment perspective these «no deals» represent a failure of monumental proportions... only if you cared, of course
a tough
midfield general

in the
world who are currently available to buy?
This could see Premier League sides miss out on the talented
midfielder,
who is widely regarded as the best young player
in world football right now.
Arturo Vidal is a
world - class
midfielder who comes with loads of experience and with a reputation of being one of
world football's best players
in his position.
In an ideal
world we have two DM with forward going abilities (which are limited for Coquelin) so we can play real wingers on both sides of the pitch and don't have to deploy a central
midfield player like Ramsey
who neither has the natural instincts of a winger nor the the burst of speed.
lets not point guns at wenger yes he is too simple on players but why do nt we look at players
who are not arsenal quality d players
who do nt know the value of being at a big club like arsenal talking of giroud
who on average scores 13.6 goals per season and yet you have the best
midfielders in the league and probably the best number 10
in the
world who creates 400 chances of scoring goals and you utilize only 13.6.
It's a old player
who realy don't do enything
in his entire carrer.I don't want him.Wenger searching for old, cheap players, but he want to win PL, IMPOSIBLE.If he want a
world class player, take Vidal, I think Juventus will sell one of it class
midfielders now with Khedira come.My problem, it's the old 4 -2-3-1, the sistem that we play and simply doesn't work anymore, not with lazy players like Ozil and worst strikers like Giroud.I think we can swamp Ozil with Gotze (he is younger, work more and can play CM to if we need to), and maybe buy Sterling (for his speed and great cover of a large area of pich when the team need it).
You do not need to be a rocket scientist to know that Arsenal need a
world class strike
who can put fear
in the heart of opposition defenders, which would enable the other guys with skill from
midfield to break through at will.
To really be a dominant team we need a
world class striker and not just one
who is good at holding up the ball, we can not have Per as one of our CD, we would need a leader
in midfield and preferable a
world class wide player.
