One set of these studies is characterizing
responses in moderate / severe and
mild asthmatics, and contrast them with those observed in non-asthmatic individuals suffering from
allergic rhinitis.
These
allergic reactions can range from
mild to severe, and include hives, shock, a severe drop in blood pressure, dermatitis and other skin reactions, gastrointestinal and respiratory distress, and even life - threatening anaphylactic reactions in which the throat swells and closes, requiring immediate emergency
response.
