I don't know if there is any difference
from those in S'pore / M'sia or not, but I find that the European leeks are very
mild in
flavour compared to the Asian ones.
This fennel and beetroot version has a beautiful crunch and
mild aniseed
flavour from the fennel which combines perfectly with the sweet beetroot and spicy turmeric ginger dressing.
You see, this French stew is filled with
flavour from white wine, fennel, garlic and saffron, sweetness
from the slow cooked tomatoes, carrots and parsnips, and it gets a
mild taste of the ocean
from a sheet of nori algae (the ones you use for rolling sushi).
If I were to add a protein source to this one, I'd probably go with a tablespoon or two of hemp seeds, just because their
