out loads of side - quests and cool loot, and you'd be missing
out on exploring the games three vast islands which range from Africa-esque savannah to oriental styled cities.

There is, of course, the # 10 save slot debacle, and indeed that's anti-consumer, over-priced nonsense, but the rest of the micro transactions are less offensive, allowing you to buy additional
load -
out slots and unit slots to send on
missions.
In short, there are many classes that you can switch to and from freely without penalty, allowing you to choose an appropriate
load -
out for whatever
missions take your fancy providing you've invested the time in to leveling them up.
There are a variety of weapons to
load out your character with for each
mission, such as a.50 cal sniper rifle, M40A1 sniper rifle, an M4 machine gun with an M203 grenade launcher, an MP5, or the powerful M249 SAW.
The campaign puts you in the boots of Nick Reyes, a soldier who ends up at the helm of the Retribution: a space cruiser that acts as a hub world for the player to track their progress, customize their
load outs, and select a variety of
missions.
The ability to customize your ship's
load out is a great innovation, as you can now enter
missions with a ship suited to your battle tactics.
Good, in that you can complete
mission after
mission, earning the necessary materials to upgrade and customize your main mech (and build various saved
load outs) with new weapons and paint schemes, and the bad as after 15 - 20
missions in, it starts to get rather stale.
Speaking of the shop, this brings up one drawback of the game - while you can buy consumable items to bring with you into your next
mission (or to put into your locker to
load into your backpack for a future
mission), you only have two inventory slots available to you
out of a possible four.
