Now so far I've talked about certain specs and comfort but it's time to talk about the
audio quality, the microphone is an omnidirectional mic with «crystal clear chat»
when I first used this headset I plugged it into a turtle beach adapter on my controller, at this point it was feeding game
audio and chat
audio through the headset and I managed to set the chat and game
audio levels perfectly obviously this is a chat headset and was designed simply for party chat
audio in mind, I plugged the headset into my Xbox controllers 3.5
mm port and tested out its functionality, I could hear the party just as clear as I would a more expensive gaming headset but obviously this time no game chat was fed through,
when asking how my microphone sounded to other members of the Xbox party it was noted that it sounded superior
when coming through the turtle beach adapter rather than straight into the controller but both were above acceptable especially for a chat headset.
When leaks about what the chassis of the iPhone 7 might look like hit headlines earlier this week, technology columnists and industry analysts jumped on the chance to report that Apple's next device may finally ditch its 3.5
mm audio port altogether.
At a time
when OEMs, including Google, are turning to USB - C
port, Samsung might tag along and do the same with the S9, but if this tipster is to be believed, we could, at least, do another year with the 3.5
mm audio jack.
Starting on the back and working downward, there's a microphone mute button, a clickable multi-purpose volume wheel, a connector for the included headset cable (the same one used by the wired Arctis Pro), a 3.5
mm pass - through to let other users hear the
audio going through the headset, a micro USB
port for charging, and a boom mic that stays retracted inside the earcup
when not in use.
It has USB, mini USB, and 3.5
mm audio ports on the back, and a notch around the sides for holding the included cables
when not in use.
