ePub files don't support all the accents over foreign words (like when your character is speaking Mandarin, for example) whereas
mobi files do.
EPUBs understand a larger subset of CSS than
MOBI files do.
Amazon is the only place that uses a Mobi file... Amazon has their own numbering system... therefore
your Mobi file does not need a separate ISBN.
Not exact matches
It can convert
MOBI files to PRC, OEB, AZW3, and many other popular
file formats, and all you have to
do is upload the
MOBI file to Zamzar and then download the converted
file - nothing needs to be installed on your computer.
You have the option to
do a quick preview of your book or download a Kindle previewer and the relevant
mobi file.
For example, I've
done this on my Mac just by right - clicking on a
MOBI file and choosing «Send to Kindle».

do the conversions from your original working

Slightly surprised that draft2digital.com didn't get a mention, because they will produce a print ready pdf as well as a

eB Format
does all of the formatting and conversion process manually, and only leaves it up to programs for creating the final
files when it is necessary, such as the final
MOBI files for Amazon.

One question I can't seem to find an answer to is — what program to use to create the free
mobi file for the giveaway book — that is book # 2, the magnet book Can I use scrivener + amazon's Kindlegen or

I didn't know how to
do this, so IngramSpark converted my
file to an ePub and then my book designer converted the ePub into a
MOBI file.
Atlantis can
do much of what MSWord
does including turn your text into an epub or

If they want a
MOBI file for their Kindle, don't send them a 7 MB RTF
file with uncompressed pictures.
I definitely don't want to hobble my
MOBI files BUT I have noticed that when using coresource to push
files to Amazon, Amazon is validating against ePUB 2.0 specs, not 3.0 — leading to errors and warnings being raised for
files that are styled to ePUB 3.0 or 3.1.

mobi file from a pcp, or how to find and correct all the stuff in your word document that Kindle will reject faster than Random House heaved your last masterpiece (yes, the e-publishers have standards, and they reject books that don't meet them)... then I encourage you to check this out.
KDP doesn't have an online edit function, nor can you edit the downloaded
mobi file directly.
I now use word 2013 and I
do wish that they had a feature that made epub and
mobi files.
I don't understand why not but any way I use Jutoh to make my epub and
mobi files and it works pretty good.
Then we create clean EPUB and
MOBI files by hand — coding, using more semantic mark - up, following industry best practices, and
doing extensive QA afterward.
However, the two processes
do share their final step: using Calibre to produce the final
mobi (Kindle) and epub (every other marketplace)

The only complaint was that this tool
does not actually generate the
MOBI file, but Kindle Create's only function is to make your Word document clean and ready for KDP's upload process to convert it to
MOBI.
It
does not have support for EPUB,
MOBI, TEXT or DOC
files, so it is quite limiting to read eBooks.
All I
did was to export mine to to a
MOBI format and send the
file to Amazon, and low and behold it worked perfectly with no problems.
The best way to read
Mobi files on your iPad, which
does not support the
Mobi format, is to use a program like Calibre E-Book Management Software to convert the
Mobi files to ePub format.
You will continue to build
MOBI files exactly the way you
did and ignore the new capabilities, because
MOBI offers exactly the kind of functionality you need.

I used Odesk and paid someone $ 44 to format my manuscript for CreateSpace AND Kindle eBook (

At first,
MOBI - formatted ebooks could only be read on Amazon's Kindle e-readers, but it didn't take long for them to wise up and create apps so that

MOBI files (they

files).
But CAUTION: when uploading the epub, Amazon also retains a copy of the epub IN THE
mobi file — WHY, I don't know, but this can more than double the size of your book, especially if it is graphic heavy..

MOBI.

Michael, please clarify if the publishers said that Amazon told them the Kindle will physically hold and show the EPUB
file — it will now support EPUB standards in its readers — or if Amazon told the publishers that they can * submit * their digital book
files for Kindle in EPUB format (which is not new... Amazon
does an EPUB to
MOBI conversion for publishers).
I heard horror stories from aggregators which handed over the ePub
files of their publishing houses and are now asking me (and my service, I don't mind) to create
MOBI files from scratch.
All of Amazon's e-readers only read AZW, PRC, and
MOBI files, so keep that in mind if you are
doing your own ebook converting or buying from companies that sell them in this format.
Every author can choose between downloading the ePub and
Mobi files of their book for a small fee or letting us
do all the work for 10 % of net royalties.
Smashwords doesn't allow authorsto use DRM, but they distribute to Sony, Kobo, Diesel, Ibooks, B&N... They don't distribute to Amazon, but they produce a
mobi file that Kindle users can download.
