The lab's more
agile model grid could do the rebalancing almost as quickly as electricity moves, at the speed of light.
Climate models can not simulate clouds explicitly because their dynamic scales (10 - 100 m) are much smaller than typical length scales of
climate model grid boxes (25 - 100 km).
This dataset included trends in the model - derived synthetic MSU - LT diagnostics and surface temperatures over one specific time period and for a small subset
of model grid - boxes that coincided with grid - boxes in the CRUTEM data product.
Because the
wave model grid is offshore, sometimes a strong offshore wind blows largest waves away from Playa Grande and away from the coast.
Within the Outlook project, there may be differences in how each group obtains their area (e.g.,
model grid cells of varying resolution, sea ice charts, and satellite observations); each of these could produce a different value for ice extent.
Problems arise because practical constraints on the size of computers ensure that the horizontal distance
between model grid - points may be as much as a degree or two of latitude or longitude — that is to say, a distance of many tens of kilometres.
Regional definitions, plotted on the
ECHAM4 model grid (resolution 2.8 * 2.8 °), are shown on the inset map (Ruosteenoja et al., 2003).
The principle crops in the region uncovered include cereals such as corn, rice, and spring wheat in a region known to be the main grain area of China (26)[Fig. 1, with brown dots in denoting at least 50 % total coverage by crops according to the land cover type yearly
climate modeling grid (CMG) datasets with 0.05 ° resolution from the NASA Land Processes Distributed Active Archive Center (LP DAAC).].
They allowed the model to «spin - up» for 10 days ahead of Sandy's approach, then another 5 days forward in time once the storm had entered
the model grid, adding data on wind speed, wind direction, and air pressure in 6 - minute time steps.
Due to the limited resolutions of the models, many of these processes are not resolved adequately by
the model grid and must therefore be parametrized.
On the same scale is shown the regression of simulated NEE, GPP and TER changes in 2003 vs. 2002 for all
the model grid points over Europe, defined here as the area bounded by 10 ° W and 37 ° E in longitude and by 36 ° N and 69 ° N in latitude.
I think the modelers know
their model grid size is too big to model tornados or thunderstorms.
