models of vehicles fare better in accidents and are less prone to theft than others, resulting in lower premiums.
The three dominating plug - in
vehicles — the Nissan Leaf, Chevy Volt, and Tesla
Model S, which constitute two - thirds
of the market share — all
fared well in December, showing strong increases from November and with the exception
of the Volt from December 2012.
Compared with the 2014
model, one
of the worst performers
of any
vehicle tested by IIHS for small overlap protection, the 2015
model fared much better, but its overall rating still is only marginal.
