negative mood, whereas unsupportive interactions and disruptive child behaviors would intensify the effect of daily parenting stress on daily
negative mood.
Furthermore, the relationship between disruptive child behaviors and
negative mood was
moderated by daily parenting stress; on more stressful days, higher levels of disruptive behaviors predicted higher levels of daily
negative mood.
This is the first study to use a repeated measurement design to investigate the direct and
moderating effects of contextual factors on daily positive and
negative mood.
Indeed, contrary to predictions, support services
moderated the stress —
negative mood relationship such that more support services and greater daily stress predicted increased daily
negative mood.
