Modern and Contemporary Art including Museum - caliber paintings, sculptures and classical photography, as well as works of an outsized scale and curated projects.
The museum's display encompasses all major movements and styles of
modern and contemporary art including: Expressionism, Fauvism, Cubism, Der Blaue Reiter (Blue Rider), Die Brucke (The Bridge), Die Neue Sachlichkeit (New Objectivity)- all schools of German Expressionism (1900 - 15)- Dada (1916 - 24), the Bauhaus design school (1919 - 33), Surrealism (1925 - 40), Abstract Expressionism (1945 - 60), Pop Art (c.1960 - 72) and Minimalism (c.1960 - 75).
This exhibition will focus on the fastest growing area of the Museum's collection, which is
modern and contemporary art including paintings, drawings, prints, and sculpture by such artists as Joseph Beuys (1921 - 1986), Robert Cottingham (b. 1935), Sam Gilliam (b. 1933), Adolph Gottlieb (1903 - 1974), Philip Guston (1913 - 1980), Keith Haring (1958 - 1991), Dame Barbara Hepworth (1903 - 1975), Sol Lewitt (1928 - 2007), Diego Rivera (1886 - 1957), and David Smith (1906 - 1965).
A primary focus of the permanent collection is works on paper, including
modern and contemporary art including drawings, prints and photographs.

The museum's extensive collection of Latin American and Cuban
modern and contemporary art includes the important collection of works promised to the museum by Stanley and Pearl Goodman, including Frida Kahlo, Diego Rivera, Rufino Tamayo, Wifredo Lam, Leonora Carrington, José Clemente Orozco, Joaquin Torres - Garcia, among others.
