The story is quite simple and doesn't really hold up to many
modern day games but other
than that this game has everything a side - scrolling classic
remake should have with genius ideas including.
Whereas Shadow Of The Colossus is a clearly a labour of love, benefiting from a generous budget, Secret Of Mana is a cheap and tawdry looking
remake that rather
than updating the game to the standards of
modern titles barely manages to get it up to the level of the PlayStation 1.
Raimi's stock has fluctuated more
than the price of an oil barrel over these past few years — what with him directing the god awful Oz the Great and Powerful and producing the divisive (but nonetheless gory as hell)
remake of his own horror classic, The Evil Dead — but the man knows horror better
than most — as evident not only by his Evil Dead entries but most notably in Drag Me to Hell, easily one of
modern horror's most underrated gems.
It's (only) slightly dated and a little slower
than modern horror leaves you prepared for, but it's a much more rewarding ghost story
than the
remake.
Final Conclusion: Overall, it's a shame they haven't taken the time to give Titan Quest a full overhaul and change things around to become more
modern — however, that then falls into the realms of a
remake rather
than a remaster and it also runs the risk of putting original fans off.
With this PC re-release, it seems Square will do just about anything with the FFVII universe other
than make a direct sequel RPG, or
remake the entire game from the ground up with
modern technology.
While Okami has always been a gorgeous game, it was released more
than half a decade ago on a console now considered «last gen.» Thus, as we've seen in other recent high definition
remakes like the Ico & Shadow Of The Colossus Collection, Okami had to be equipped with new,
modern features that simply didn't exist when it was initially developed.
