mom so I by no means know it all about
babies / kids and sleeping BUT I did purchase a great sleep reference book called Healthy Sleep Habits Happy Child that I have found very useful so far and expect to
get lots more use
out of it in the future with it's easy - to - use reference section where you can find guidance sorted by age and / or specific issues you're dealing with.
Breastfeeding will likely
get easier for her as the
baby figures
out how to latch on, her nipples toughen up, etc.; if it doesn't, she will not be able to keep going, and then it is up to you to make her feel better as a
mom.
Getting Mom Out Since
moms are inextricably connected to their
babies, they often find it very difficult to
get away at first.
But considering when
out and about I see way, way more
babies getting bottles than being nursed, and the stats that show the majority of
moms use bottles and formula at some point, I have to wonder, WHO is giving the judgmental looks to bottlefeeding
moms??? The tiny minority who manage to exclusively breastfeed?
I was beginning to lose hope that there were other
moms out there who just want happy
babies and realize that we MUST respect each other, or we'll end up with children who are just as hard to
get along with.
Somehow, one side always is thought to be better than another, when the measure of a good birth is whether or not you
get a healthy
mom and
baby out of the process.
If possible (given your sleep and work schedule),
get out with him alone regularly rather than spending all your free time with
mom and the
baby.
New
moms need to know that they have the space to do what's best for the
baby and for themselves — and that space
gets a little smaller every time someone points
out the reasons they should have tried harder and all the things they coulda, shoulda done to avoid «failing» at breastfeeding.
We have a lot of fun
getting out of that new
mom inertia and into the world with our gifts... while running the house and raising the
babies.
