In our darker moments, we all suspect kids
need oodles of time with
mom and dad to thrive, far more than we can manage to give them with our hectic modern
lives.
Sopik saw the
need for a better work -
life balance
in Canada's workforce; it's a balance she knows all too well, as
mom to eight kids.
Having also co-founded an entry - level employment service
in 1995 (JobDirect, later sold to Korn Ferry International

I'd ask myself before I... well, before I did pretty much anything, from taking a much -
needed part - time job, to buying a certain baby toy, to playing the «stinky feet game» with my toddler (once, a particularly influential AP
mom in my online world had suggested such games would cause my child to feel shame about his body for the rest of his
life.)
Every
mom needs more positive thinking

After giving birth to my daughter, I felt called to support and work with other
moms and pregnant women as I experienced how much support we truly
need in this transformative time
in our
lives.

lives.
Fathers
need to work hard, whether married or not, to provide solid, responsible fathering and to work to preserve marriage, where at all possible, or to work hard to be a positive influence for good
in the children's
lives if the dad and
mom are no longer married.
And finally, how can we ensure the new
moms in our
lives are getting the support they so desperately
need after bring another
life into the world?
Oh, and you don't
need us to remind you to thank those special
moms in your
life this Sunday (and give yourself a pat on the back for all you do)!
I
need more help, I
need more time for myself, and I
need more than just being a
mom to be fulfilled
in life.
When things change
in their
lives and things are unsettled for them, they
need to touch base with
mom more often.
I
needed to connect with other women /
moms / dads who shared my interest
in healthy
living and gather tips, recipes, plus find ideas to a delicate approach of converting him into a healthier lifestyle.
This is the first

moms of kids with special

Frequent nursing is also
needed — to avoid / reduce engorgement
in the early days, to nourish and grow a baby who has a stomach the size of his fist but who
needs to double his weight within 5 - 6 months, to establish a good milk supply for
mom, and to help a baby who has been cradled close and warm inside
mom for 9 months adjust to
life in the outside world.
First off as
moms we are always multi-tasking so while the baby
needs to be
in your arms, like ALL DAY LONG, you also have everyday
life things that
need to be done like grocery shopping, laundry, and chasing after other kids too.
Babies
in the first stages of
life need interaction from
mom and dad.
While I agree that
moms do
need time to themselves — I like to de-stress
in a long bath with a book by my side once a week, and go to dinner and a movie with friends occasionally — I am happy to share my
life with my 15 - month - old son.

I completely agree that the narratives
in the broader culture and
in our own minds about what kinds of
lives moms have or don't have
need to be flipped, revised, or completely re-written.
During the next 4 weeks, we will be imagining a world
in which
moms have the support they
need to give their children a healthy start to
life.
Our hope is that breastfeeding
moms who return to work get the support they
need in every aspect of their
lives, including
in the workplace.
The arrival of pregnancy headaches illuminates a
need in every pregnant
mom's
life; stress reducers.
