Parents are welcome to visit the classrooms and
receive monthly home visits from their child's teacher to build strong home and classroom connections.
Today, Greenville has 22 parent educators who
conduct monthly home visits with 40 families who have who have children ranging from infancy to age three, according to Rhonda Corley of the School District of Greenville County.
Or a Tribal program might decide to provide Parents as Teachers support to pregnant teens as part of their high school day, and then
offer monthly home visits after the babies are born.
This position manages a caseload of 8 - 11 families and their children ages 6 weeks through 5 years, plans and implements developmentally appropriate and therapeutic curriculum for a classroom of 6 - 11 children, monitors each child's development and the family's functioning, conducts at
least monthly home visits for each family and maintains accurate files on each child.
Participants in the program receive
monthly home visits using either the Partners for a Healthy Baby or Parents as Teachers home - visiting curriculum, along with 24 hours of prescriptive group education with their peers.
Starting on day 180,
monthly home visits were made to check the health status of participants and to encourage parents or guardians to bring them to the research clinic if they felt ill.
Monthly home visits are also conducted to observe parent - child interactions and provide guidance in the home on learning through play.
