Sometimes it's just a weekend getaway, other times it's two
months of slow travel.

August was a whirlwind
month and September shows no signs
of slowing down, but I took a day
of respite last Friday and
traveled down to Chicago a day early to eat and shop.

I was a basket case the first few
months of full - time
travel blogging, so I've had to train myself to trust that things will work out when those
slow months inevitably occur.
I also discovered Journo and Joker quite recently and what really caught my attention on their blog is their
slow travel through Cambodia, working with the local community along the way, sharing their life and
travel experiences.That's the kind
of travel I really enjoy and am happily doing that in New Zealand for 6
months now.

This little farm in Northern France was the first overnight campsite
of our three -
month slow travel adventure.
We've been
travelling permanently for two years and eight
months now and our pace has
slowed dramatically but
slow travel is not a measure
of time, it's a measure
of impact.
For those who are only in Australia for a few
months, the standard validity is 3
months from your first day
of travel, but if you're taking things a bit
slower you can upgrade to 6
months and give yourself heaps more time to enjoy your trip.
The majority
of the the best fares are for
travel during the summer
months (July & August) when Business Class
travel is at its
slowest, but great fares are also available at the end
of March / beginning
of April.
April was the cheapest
month of what I spent in 2017; a testament to the money - saving qualities
of slow travel.
Italians have been
slow to embrace online
travel purchases for diverse reasons: broadband penetration is low and still relatively expensive; they are by nature hesitant to release personal information over the Internet; traditional offline players have powerful ties and still sell the vast majority
of travel related products; tour operators have been cautious about challenging conventional distribution channels; credit card usage is still relatively low and most credit cards have limited spending margins per
month and the country's population is aging rapidly, resulting in
slower adoption
of the Internet than other markets.
Thirty, which doesn't seem like a lot considering we've been
travelling pretty much constantly for the past three years, but because
of house sitting we've done a lot
of slow travel and we've spent at least a
month in: Australia, Germany, Spain, Portugal, Italy, Greece and Thailand.
As many
of you know, I've been
traveling quite a bit with Ben this past year, which has been unforgettable and dreamy, but I've
slowed down in recent
months and started work in the
travel industry, a space I was familiar with before meeting Ben and now...
For those who
travel from the city to the country during the summer
months, the landscape is a place not only for recreation but also for viewing, a place to nourish the body and mind through the act
of perception, through the process
of coming down,
of slowing down, and thus removing oneself from the diurnal routines and omnipresent anxieties that many assume to be second nature — the simulated «nature»
of the urban environment.
The
slow option, which could take six
months to complete, is drilling a relief well, which would have to hit the gas pocket exactly, after
traveling though 4 kilometers
of rock.
If I were running an Airbnb property right now, I'd rent the heck out
of it on a short - term, Airbnb basis for those good seasons and try to get a
traveling nurse or the like in for the 3 - 5
slower months just to cover the expenses.
