The Daily Mail (always a bastion of good faith when it comes to women's
issues) is currently proclaiming that «Mothers who choose not to breastfeed are «twice as likely to get postnatal depression
because they miss out on
mood - boosting hormones released by the process»», while the Telegraph is announcing that «Failing to breastfeed may double risk of depression in mothers».
For now, let's keep it general
because there are so many people who can give an account much like mine of how wrapping helped bring them up from postpartum
mood disorders, or struggles with relationships, special needs children, high needs and sensory
issues, or securing attachment again after developmental leaps or time apart.
If your teen can't keep friends
because her
mood swings are so severe, or she can't get through the school day without yelling at people, she may have underlying mental health
issues.
I want to share this with you,
because I'd like to help destigmatize mental health
issues and especially postpartum
mood disorders.
Just
because your little one is biting during breastfeeding does not mean that it is necessarily time to end nursing; be patient and usually you will be able to resolve this minor
issue with attention to your baby's actions and
moods.
Whether anxiety has gotten the best of you due to stresses at work, your
mood has been up and down
because of a rough day, or you maybe have hormonal
issues, certain foods can help you with all of these problems.
Now I hear a lot of doctors out there, «Well, pull gluten out for a bit,» which I think is great, almost — almost all of my patients go on an autoimmune diet to start with,
because I can't tell you how many times something like nuts or eggs can cause a problem, and
because they're such a common staple in a Paleo diet, anyone that has gut
issues or severe neurological stuff or
mood stuff or hormone stuff, an autoimmune diet with the potential of something like a — an SCD or GAPS or a low FODMAP may even be added on, kinda like a filter.
Anytime you have lower energy, you tend to start having brain fog
issues,
mood issues, fatigue
issues, pain
issues, sleep
issues because energy is the byproduct of a healthy metabolism.
I am following this diet
because I have intolerances to certain foods, chronic fatigue type symptoms when I over do things — with a feeling I've got flu when I haven't; and
because I have blood sugar
issues, sleep problems and a
mood disorder.
The addition of starches warmed my body temperature (always an
issue because I have Hashimoto's thyroiditis), improved my energy level, helped with symptoms of adrenal fatigue (as per Dr. BG), improved my bowel function, and improved my
mood.
That's
because each of these activities (and more) can potentially put you in contact with endocrine disruptors (ED's): chemicals that adversely affect your hormone health, resulting in weight gain,
mood swings, anxiety, loss of sleep and skin
issues.
For me, the recent Retreats were fascinating
because we faced some new health
issues: chronic fatigue, disrupted sleep, and impaired
mood.
So they're being prescribed
because of hirsutism or hair
issues on their face, or excessive bleeding, or migraine headaches, or
mood issues, or PMS.
This has been a game - changer for me,
because I have a health condition that often fatigues me, and I also struggle with
mood issues.
So a lot of these are really not so good and it throws us into a state known as estrogen - dominance and this can allow things like fibroids to grow and endometriosis and even cause excessive bleeding that can even cause things like anemia which cause more fatigue and cause more thyroid and adrenal
issues because now your body's ability to carry oxygen
because you're low in iron is now impeded, so now you're set up for a world of hurt when it comes to energy and
mood and how you feel.
Because women with PCOS are high risk for
mood disorders, the AEPCOS
issued a position statement that all women with PCOS should be screened by qualified professionals and referred to appropriate treatment.
Most of us today are busy with the day to day work and thus we are ruining our love life and
because of this, we are having many
mood swings kind of
issues.
That's
because a sedentary lifestyle leads to an alteration in the three major brain chemicals responsible for
mood — and that can create emotional
issues.
