I dare say, that if someone other than the Pope had written such a
book, it would not have gotten the same amount of
publicity and
more people would have remained in the dark
about this.
And Amazon will talk to its customers again and again
about a particular
book, making for a
more prolonged marketing campaign than is common in traditional publishing, where a new title often gets just an initial blast of
publicity.
Actually, I was handed a great example of
book publicity by a forever (and ever and ever) friend, Paul Amirault (
more about the forever and ever and ever part later).
Publicity is often
more about getting people to recognize who you are in a world of oversaturation — rather than sparking
book sales.
For example, there may have been no
more than 40 people or so in a fast - paced, tweet - storm of a session on what authors need to know and do
about promotion and
publicity for their
books.
For example, if your
book earns
publicity for the release, the media you've earned should be able to direct those interested readers to a site where they can learn
more about the title and your business.

book fair catalogues, consulting with clients
about cover design, talking to clients
about new
book ideas and many
more things!
If an author and publisher have worked together through prior writing, marketing and
publicity to get me really excited
about a particular
book then
more power to them if I'm willing to pay
more for the privilege of reading that
book than I would for a
book by a less - successful author - publisher team.
