One study found that dogs exhibited significantly
more jealous behaviors (e.g., snapping, getting between the owner and object, pushing /
touching the object / owner) when their owners displayed
affectionate behaviors towards what appeared to be another dog as compared to nonsocial objects.
The results again showed that couples who were having
more frequent sex were also
more physically
affectionate in their relationship and this in turn, was associated with feeling
more positive emotions — however in this sample, we observed the association between sex and
affectionate touch only for men.
