I agree that many of these folks calling themselves Atheists are leaning more towards angry and Agnostic.

Here's an old post I did about the concept of atheist's being angry at god though, since I guess that applies — though I think this was more tongue in cheek even if it didn't go across perfectly:

An atheist is somebody who doesn't believe in a god, ergo an atheist can't be angry with a god (no more than he could be angry with Skeletor).

And because of that fact you will find few who are angrier with or cuss him more than I. And because of this I can state for a fact that the Atheist's are more realistic (extremely harsh and unforgiving) in assessing God and his actions than the believers.

To the other... rest easy in knowing that I think being spiritual is a joke as well; but that is because I am an Atheist so I find Religious people even more amusing I don't need fear of an invisible angry old man to scare me into being a good person; I do good things because I am a good person and don't need an instruction manual.

There are some agnostics / atheists who seem more angry / disappointed with God because the world isn't as they think it should be or they simply want to live in the world and do as they please.
