SEA LION 911: Staff and
volunteers cover a range of
more than 600 square miles, locating and transporting stranded, sick or injured
animals to the center for
care.
Many people offer their services as a foster for cats and kittens at Cat House on the Kings, taking
care of
animals at home on a temporary basis, but you can also get
more involved with the day - to - day work of the shelter by becoming a general
volunteer.
All of our board members, who are all
volunteers, are active either in the trenches providing day - to - day
care to the
animals and / or working on various projects for El RefUgio's committees, such as
animal care, education, spay and neuter programs, public relations, adoption and foster programs, fundraising and grant procurement, and
more.
I was ultimately unable to

Shortly after having to give up his beloved dog because a severe car accident left him unable to
care for him, Ted decided that if he couldn't give all of his love to Luke, he'd become a
volunteer and give it to the
more than 350
animals temporarily living at
Animal League America's Port Washington, N.Y. campus.
Thus, if you are interested in adopting an
animal,
volunteering at the center, learning

animal care, reporting
animal neglect or abuse related cases, need to have your pet spayed or have just rescued a lost
animal, then, WHS will come in handy.
Our network of foster
volunteers allows us to provide specialized
care to
more animals in need while also opening space at the shelter for
more homeless pets.
More than 20 dedicated
volunteers and a skilled veterinary staff from
Caring Hands
Animal Hospital of Virginia also enabled the project to take place.
Even if you can't adopt, you can still help these guys — Fostering allows us to Rescue
more animals,
Volunteering allows us to hold
more Adoption Events, Donating helps us fund Events, Medical Treatment and
Care for our Adoptables.
Catherine's duties include responding to emergency calls; rescuing the endangered; attending to dog licensing; providing health - building food, clean shelter and loving
care for abandoned
animals; seeking safe and permanent homes for the same; overseeing
volunteers and much
more.
Taking
care of that many
animals is a daunting, never - ending job for the County's dedicated staff and FOTAS
volunteers, yet every year, they manage to save
more and
more dogs and cats.
Support from the community enables nearly 100 staff members and
more than 600
volunteers to
care for around 10,000 homeless
animals each year and makes possible a variety of programs to address issues that contribute to pet overpopulation and the surrender of unwanted
animals.
Our
animals are «sheltered» in the homes of our
volunteers... we feel that this close - up and personal
care leads to better socialization of the
animal which, in turn, creates a happier, healthier, and
more adoptable pet!

More than 150
volunteers from throughout the community, along with Habitat for Humanity, helped with an «Extreme
Animal Care Center Makeover» that transformed the Brevard County Sheriff's Office South
Animal Care Center.
As I interviewed the
volunteers I realized just how much
more care these
animals really needed.
The reduction in euthanasia and
animal admissions also provides
more time for staff and
volunteers to
care for resident
animals and give personal attention to potential adopters.
More than 150
volunteers also assist with the
care of the
animals in the Adoption Wing.

In 2016, the program's seven staff members and
more than 140
volunteers provided veterinary
care for
animals in communities where no other
animal services exist, including communities on Native American reservations throughout the United States, remote villages in Latin America and around the world.

animals, help at our adoption and fundraising events, assist at our medical facilities, and much
more.
Volunteers are an important part of Kent
Animal Shelter, they make the shelter a special place and what enables the organization to save
more animals, helping to
care and provide for the
animals and the facility.
At No - Kill LA, a Best Friends
Animal Society initiative that started a kitten nursery in 2012 and expects to
care for at least 1,800 this year,
more than 200 active
volunteers put in at least four hours a month at the kitten nursery and still
more are needed.
We
care for
more than 30,000
animals each year, and we could not do it without the help of our dedicated
volunteers.
And come through it did, with an army of
volunteers and a historic collaboration between Maddie's Fund ®, the ASPCA, the University of Wisconsin Shelter Medicine Program, New York City
Animal Care and Control, the New York City Department of Health, the Centers for Disease Control, the Wisconsin Veterinary Diagnostic Laboratory, and
more.

From May to September, it's puppy and kitten season, and our team is pushed to their limits in
caring for sometimes 10 or
more new shelter
animals a day while trying to arrange adoption events, transports, medical
care, feeding and proper cleaning of kennels,
volunteer training, etc..

more than 2,500
animals per year coming into our
care, Washington County SPCA is always in need of shelter
volunteers and
volunteer foster / sponsor
care providers.
They also are well on their way to building a complete senior pet sanctuary and adoption center on eight acres of land that will help them rescue

Moreover, we receive donations of food, blankets, toys, and

volunteers upon request and availability, to help support the foster

animal care, inspection specialists, outreach workers and administrative staff, augmented by a large and very important complement of
volunteers.
