I see lot of coments about how we can sign Reus «cuz he's a world class
player.Yes, he is a great
player BUT did you see how mutch this season was he injuried? The period when Dortmund win some games and comme forward in the table was the period when Reus was available, rest of the season he was injuried. This is one thing, the other think is that Klopp say he will leave Dortmund in the end of the season and looking for a new chalange.I'm pretty sure that he will leave to a big
team and will take Reus after him.Sterling is exactly the same type of
player as Sanchez, just doesn't have the same experience, he's not fully developed.I think he can be a
first XI
player for us and I think will be great alongside Sanchez, replacing Cazorla when he will leave.Sterling is an English
player, will be great to see him at nationat
team too, and we need
as mutch
as rest of the big
teams from EPL home grown
players. The coments who say that we have Gnabry and Wellington make me laugh, really?Do you want trophies?Or do you want to see
more young
players and waiting year after year to confirm or just see how they doesn't play anything? We are a top
team, and need performance in UCL too, not just participaiting.Sterling is a young CONFIRMED
player who will definetly help us.Agree that he's not fully grown but he will be a great
player.
I think that there's
more to this than meets the eye, it's not
as if Mertesacker was going to be a
first team starter this season,
more like a fringe
player, at the most.
Retaining our core

Haven already signed Cohen Bramall for the Arsenal's Under 23 squad, Well, Le Prof has made it categorically clear yesterday in his press conference that he will be quiet during this winter transfer window not to do any

but
more importantly it should tell you that wenger no longer has a grasp on the strengths and weaknesses of his
team, or, indeed, what kind of football he is trying to play... heard a lot of people waffling on about the end of tika tak... we never got there because too many
first team players lack the skills to do that kind of football... ramsey walcott giroud merteshaker coquelin are not that kind of
player... nor do we rapidly convert defence in to attack
as we used to or press
teams in their own half..
In the midfield, (including RWB & LWB) we have a whole bunch of tweeners... none offer the full package, none make sense in our manager's current favourite formation, except for Sead on the left and Ox on the right, and all of them have never shown any consistency for
more than a heartbeat... Sead, who I'm including in this category because of our present formation, looks like a positive addition, minus his occasional brain farts, but I would rather see what he could do in a back 4 before making my mind up... Ox, who has never played better, which isn't saying much considering his largely underwhelming play in previous seasons, seems to have found a home in this new formation; unfortunately, can we really expect this oft - injured
player to handle the taxing duties that come with said position over the long haul, not to mention, it looks like he has no intention of staying... Ramsey has relied on the empathy that stems from his gruesome injury years ago and the excitement that was generated a few years back when he finally seemed to put in altogether, but on the whole he has been a big disappointment (neither he nor the Ox have scored enough to warrant a regular spot)... Wiltshire should be put on a weekly contract then played until he suffers his
first injury, if and when that occurs he should be shipped - out and no one should very be allowed to say his name on club grounds ever again... Elnehy & Coq are average
players who couldn't make any of the top 7
teams currently in the EPL... both have showed some great energy on the pitch, but neither are top quality and no good
team can afford to have that many average
players on their bench playing the same position, especially with Coq's injury history / discipline concerns and Elheny's headless chicken tendencies...
as for Xhaka, his tenure here so far has been incredibly underwhelming... we know he has some skills to provide the long ball but his defensive work is piss poor and he gives the ball away too cheaply and far too often... finally, the enigma himself, Ozil, so much skill with his left foot but his presence has been
more frustrating than uplifting... in many respects his failure has been directly related to the failure of this club to provide him with the necessary
players up front, minus Sanchez of course, and unless something drastic happens very soon his legacy will be largely a negative one (much like Wenger's)
Up front we have a few world - class
players surrounded by some serious pretenders... Sanchez is by far the most accomplished
player in our attack but the controversy surrounding his contractual mishandling could see him go before the window closes or most definitely by season's end... obviously a mistake by both parties involved,
as Sanchez's exploits have never been
more on display than in North London, but the club's irresponsible wage structure and lack of real intent have been the real undoing in this mess... Lacazette, who I think has some world - class skills
as a front man, will only be
as good
as the
players and system around him, which is troubling due to our current roster and Wenger's love of sideways passing... Walcott should have been sold years ago, enough said, and Welbeck should never have been brought in from the get - go... both of these
players have suffered numerous injuries over their respective careers and neither are good enough to overcome such difficulties: not to mention, they both are below average
first - touch
players, which should be the baseline test for any
player coming to a Wenger - led Arsenal
team... Perez should have been played wide left or never purchased at all; what a huge waste of time and money, which is ridiculous considering our penny pinching ways and the fact that fans had been clamoring for a real striker for years... finally Giroud, the fact that he stills wears the jersey is a direct indictment of this club's failure to get things right... this isn't necessarily an attack on Giroud because I think he has some highly valued skills, but not for a
team that has struggled to take their sideways soccer to the next level,
as his presence slows their game even
more, combined with our average, at best, finishing skills... far too often those in charge have either settled or chosen half - measures and ultimately it is us that suffer because no matter what happens Wenger, Gazidis and Kroenke will always make
more money whereas we will always be the ones paying for their mistakes... so every time someone suggests we should just shut - up and support the
team just think of all the sacrifices you've made along the way and simply reply... f *** off
Arsenal fans were clearly expecting the manager to do a lot
more in order to give us the best possible chance of reclaiming the Premier League title, but Wenger is sticking to his story about the lack of
players available that would actually make the squad or the
first team better,
as reported by The Mirror.
He would then make four

team All - Pro nods, in 2008 and 2010, while winning AP Defensive

I'm so sick of people telling those of us who are disgruntled fans to relax and give this club time to correct itself... for anyone who believes that taking a wait - and - see approach is appropriate at this juncture they should take a good long look at themselves in the mirror because they are a big part of the problem... no other «big» club's fans would stand for this shit for nearly
as long
as we have... think about it, we've witnessed a changing of the guard at every major club in England, Spain, France and Germany in the last several years because those «big» clubs failed to live up to expectations (Barcelona, Real Madrid, Bayern, PSG, Chelsea, ManU, ManCity etc...)... for some reason, many fans have become
as fragile
as our current manager, believing that there couldn't possibly be a suitable replacement, even though everyone of these clubs have found multiple replacements and still achieved far
more than our club... this mindset has been created by an organization that has been milking it's fans, telling countless lies (no world class
players available) and lowering expectations every since they rolled out the biggest lie of all: that we couldn't spend because of the new stadium but once it was paid off we could compete with any
team in the world... this organization is rotting from the inside out and if we don't demand that those in charge put soccer
first this despicable behaviour won't end with Wenger's ridiculous 2 year contract... I think the real fear isn't that a suitable replacement doesn't exist, but that this organization is so money hungry and poorly mismanaged that we will sink even lower by choosing our next coach the same way they choose our
players, on the cheap... even so, we need to see what mustache will do if left to his own devices so he will have to show his true colours... only then can we purge this club and start anew
as there will be a number of
first team places up for grabs
as some of the
more older

Time Arsene stopped this favouritism towards some
players and get rid soon
as we are to soft that way so even tho i want another 1 - 2
more in we need rid 4 - 5
first team squad.
In addition we're too loyal to
players who can't stay on the pitch for
more than one game a season, Wilshere shouldn't even be considered for the
first team until he's fully fit next year, Rosicky should've been released last season, but Wenger used them
as an excuse not to buy available quality in midfield.
the season is over i don't feel that arsenal need any
more frustrations along the way,
as it stands injuries and fitness are things
players and manager must look after. The mesut ozil injury was lack of proper communication and Wenger saw Ramsey wanting to be subbed but still did not care to look at him, arsenal have been bad lucked this term and this match after losing to
team conceded from offside position from the
first goal.
The odd exception of Iwobi, Gibbs or Wilshere may come all the way through the ranks at Arsenal before becoming a valuable member of the
first team, but
more often than not its the Bellerin's, Szczesny's and the Fabregas» that are taken from other clubs at a young age and then put through
as our very own
players.
Arsenal have been linked with further signings of attacking
players themselves in recent times, though it may be that Podolski will be allowed to make way
as Arsene Wenger seeks to promote promising youngsters Yaya Sanogo and Joel Campbell into his
first -
team plans on a
more regular basis this season.
Danny is a 15 minute
player, after 15 minutes of each game he just disappears and all he does is run, close down, lose passes, he just does not give much
as a striker, we down talk Giroud but he gives us
more than danny, he will work hard, assist, score sometimes and bring this
team mates into play... Welbeck has got the worst link up play ever, his
first touch is so bad, whenever the ball gets to him we know it won't stick and that means he will be chasing down the ball due to his poor
first touch.
This is an incredibly difficult question to answer for a variety of reasons, most importantly because over the years our once vaunted «beautiful» style of play has become a shadow of it's former self, only to be replaced by a less than stellar «plug and play» mentality where
players play out of position and adjustments / substitutions are rarely forthcoming before the 75th minute... if you look at our current
players, very few would make sense in the traditional Wengerian system... at present, we don't have the personnel to move the ball quickly from deep - lying position, efficient one touch midfielders that can make the necessary through balls or the disciplined and pacey forwards to stretch defences into wide positions, without the aid of the backs coming up into the final 3rd, so that we can attack the defensive lanes in the same clinical fashion we did years ago... on this current squad, we have only 1 central defender on staf, Mustafi, who seems to have any prowess in the offensive zone or who can even pass two zones through so that we can advance play quickly out of our own end (I have seen some inklings that suggest Holding might have some offensive qualities but too early to tell)... unfortunately Mustafi has a tendency to get himself in trouble when he gets overly aggressive on the ball... from our backs out wide, we've seen pace from the likes of Bellerin and Gibbs and the spirited albeit offensively stunted play of Monreal, but none of these
players possess the skill - set required in the offensive zone for the new Wenger scheme which requires deft touches, timely runs to the baseline and consistent crossing, especially when Giroud was playing and his ratio of scored goals per clear chances was relatively low (better last year though)... obviously I like Bellerin's future prospects,
as you can't teach pace, but I do worry that he regressed last season, which was obvious to Wenger because there was no way he would have used Ox
as the right side wing - back so often knowing that Barcelona could come calling in the off - season, if he thought otherwise...
as for our midfielders, not a single one, minus the
more confident Xhaka I watched played for the Swiss national
team a couple years ago, who truly makes sense under the traditional Wenger model... Ramsey holds onto the ball too long, gives the ball away cheaply far too often and abandons his defensive responsibilities on a regular basis (doesn't score enough recently to justify): that being said, I've always thought he does possess a little something special, unfortunately he thinks so too... Xhaka is a little too slow to ever boss the midfield and he tends to telegraph his one true strength, his long ball play: although I must admit he did get a bit better during some points in the latter part of last season... it always made me wonder why whenever he played with Coq Wenger always seemed to play Francis in a
more advanced role on the pitch...
as for Coq, he is way too reckless at the wrong times and has exhibited little offensive prowess yet finds himself in and around the box far too often... let's face it Wenger was ready to throw him in the trash heap when injuries forced him to use Francis and then he had the nerve to act like this was all part of a bigger Wenger constructed plan... he like Ramsey, Xhaka and Elneny don't offer the skills necessary to satisfy the quick transitory nature of our old offensive scheme or the stout defensive mindset needed to protect the defensive zone so that our offensive
players can remain aggressive in the final third... on the front end, we have Ozil, a
player of immense skill but stunted by his physical demeanor that tends to offend, the fact that he's been played out of position far too many times since arriving and that the
players in front of him, minus Sanchez, make little to no sense considering what he has to offer (especially Giroud); just think about the quick counter-attack offence in Real or the space and protection he receives in the German National
team's midfield, where
teams couldn't afford to focus too heavily on one individual... this
player was a passing «specialist» long before he arrived in North London, so only an arrogant or ignorant individual would try to reinvent the wheel and / or not surround such a talent with the necessary components... in regards to Ox, Walcott and Welbeck, although they all possess serious talents I see them in large part
as headless chickens who are on the injury table too much, lack the necessary
first - touch and / or lack the finishing flair to warrant their inclusion in a regular starting eleven; I would say that, of the 3, Ox showed the most upside once we went to a back 3, but even he became a bit too consumed by his pending contract talks before the season ended and that concerned me a bit... if I had to choose one of those 3
players to stay on it would be Ox due to his potential
as a plausible alternative to Bellerin in that wing - back position should we continue to use that formation... in Sanchez, we get one of the most committed skill
players we've seen on this squad for some years but that could all change soon, if it hasn't already of course... strangely enough, even he doesn't make sense given the constructs of the original Wenger offensive model because he holds onto the ball too long and he will give the ball up a little too often in the offensive zone... a fact that is largely forgotten due to his infectious energy and the fact that the numbers he has achieved seem to justify the means... finally, and in many ways most crucially, Giroud, there is nothing about this
team or the offensive system that Wenger has traditionally employed that would even suggest such a
player would make sense
as a starter... too slow, too inefficient and way too easily dispossessed... once again, I think he has some special skills and, at times, has showed some world - class qualities but he's lack of mobility is an albatross around the necks of our offence... so when you ask who would be our best starting 11, I don't have a clue because of the 5 or 6
players that truly deserve a place in this side, 1 just arrived, 3 aren't under contract beyond 2018 and the other was just sold to Juve... man, this is theraputic because following this
team is like an addiction to heroin without the benefits
I still don't understand people's obsession with boxing
players in to a specific role... The whole «true DM» is a dying breed, even Coquelin is arguably something else considering the advanced positions he takes up often in front of Santi and takes major risks in winning the ball back for us... IMO, the reason Coquelin has had such a successful integration into the
first team is that he focussed incredibly hard on the basics of his role
first and foremost before adding other elements to his game (long - balls, driving runs into space,
more aggressive ball movement in general) it's not rocket science to tell a
player to curb the attacking side of their game and focus primarily on defence before attack... Nor is it that hard to see that playing in a midfield pairing with either Ramsey or Cazorla is going to be different
as well.
For me our best 22 is quite clear at the moment,
as once campbell moves we are down to just 23
first team players, and 2 of those (bellerin and chambers are classed
as u21) but it's now down to wenger whether he will add some
more depth to the 25, but
more importantly some
more quality.
We lost so many games against top 4
teams in the past couple of years, that one win won't erase it all (let's not get ahead of ourselves) but if we can keep getting such win by putting not only a fluid and great offensive display but also grit and composure in defence; our win today and the way it happened will be the
first step in the right direction... our best
players being fit will help too: it looks promising,
as a GUNNER today I can celebrate and hoping for many
more!!
Where's all this positivity about our champions league group coming from?for one I can guarantee 100 % that PSG will finish
first ahead of us, I saw someone mention that Man City and Chelsea beat them but those
teams actually have Uefa Champions league level
players as City made it to the semis last season and Chelsea's champions league is better than ours they have won it before and made
more champions league semi finals!
Nothing like one underachiever blowing smoke up the ass of another... we know that Ozil has some incredible technical gifts, but to be considered the best you have to bring
more than just assists to the table... for me, a top
player has to possess a
more well - rounded game, which doesn't mean they need to be a beast on both ends of the pitch, but they must have the ability to take their game to another level when it matters most... although he amassed some record - like stats early on, it set the bar too high, so when people expected him to duplicate those numbers each year the pressure seemed to get the best of our soft - spoken star... obviously that's not an excuse for what has happened in the meantime, but it's important to make note of a few things: (1) his best year was a transition year for many of the traditionally dominant
teams in the EPL, so that clearly made the numbers appear better than they actually were and (2) Wenger's system, or lack thereof, didn't do him any favours; by playing him out of position and by not acquiring world - class striker and / or right - side forward that would best fit an Ozil - centered offensive scheme certainly hurt his chances to repeat his earlier peformances, (3) the loss of Cazorla, who took a lot of pressure off Ozil in the midfield and was highly efficient when it came to getting him the ball in space, negatively impacted his effectiveness and (4) he likewise missed a good chunk of games and frankly never looked himself when he eventually returned to the field... overall the Ozil experiment has had mixed reviews and rightfully so, but I do have some empathy for the man because he has always carried himself the same way, whether for Real or the German National
team, yet he has only suffered any lengthy down periods with Arsenal... to me that goes directly to this club's inability to surround him with the necessary
players to succeed, especially for someone who is a pass
first type of
player;
as such, this simply highlights our club's ineffective and antiquated transfer policies... frankly I'm disappointed in both Ozil and our management
team for not stepping up when it counted because they had a chance to do something special, but they didn't have it in them... there is no one that better exemplifies our recent history than Ozil, brief moments of greatness undercut by long periods of disappointing play, only made worse by his mopey posturing like a younger slightly less awkward Wenger... what a terribly waste
No matter how you slice it, you can't run an uptempo offence with Giroud on the pitch and that means sideways soccer and an over-reliance on crosses into the box, thereby negating many of the very reasons Lacazette was on your radar in the
first place... we simply aren't clinical enough from wide positions to continue with that approach, which is why many fans have been clamoring for a viable alternative to Giroud for several years... once again this isn't an attack on Giroud, he clearly has some tangible skills, but his mere presence on the pitch greatly impacts your tactical options... Giroud's weaknesses are simply highlighted by the way in which our offence now moves in a
more horizontal than vertical manner, which allows most
teams ample time to regroup defensively before a scoring opportunity even arises... a
player of Ibra's or Benzema's ilk would have been far
more effective
as they had size, speed and the
first touch capabilities required to for intricate link - up play... once again square peg in a round hole
Getting another striker was always
more debatable
as we had at least two
first team players wanting to play striker, inspite of the lack of goals, and Theo is definitely not the finished product at the moment.
players like Ozil always present the fans with a bit of a conundrum, especially when times are tough... if you look around the sporting world every once in awhile there emerges a
player with incredible skill, like Ozil, Matt Sundin or even Jay Cutler, who have a different way about themselves... their movement seemed almost too lackadaisical, so much so that it seemed to suggest indifference or even disinterest on the part of the
player... their posture always appears somewhat mopey and they generally have an unflattering «sour puss» expression on their face... for some their above average skills are enough to keep them squarely in the mix,
as their respective
teams try desperately to find a way to get the best out of them visa vie
player acquisitions or the reworking of tactics... when things go according to planned the fans usually find a way to accept their unique disposition, whereas when things go awry they become easy targets for fans and pundits alike... in the case of Ozil and Sundin, their successes on the international stage and / or with their former
teams led many to conclude that if we surrounded such talented individuals with
players that have those skills that would most likely bring the best of these
players success would surely follow... unfortunately both the Maple Leafs and our club chose to adopt half - measures,
as each were being run by corporations who valued profitability over providing the best possible product on the field... for them, they cared
more about shirt sales and season tickets than doing whatever was necessary... this isn't, by any stretch, an attempt to absolve Ozil of any responsibility for his failures on the pitch... there is no doubt oftentimes his efforts were underwhelming, to say the least, but this club has been inept when it comes to providing this prolific passer with the kind of
players necessary for him to flourish... with our poor man's version of Benzema up front, the headless chickens in Walcott, the younger Ox and Welbeck occupying wide positions far too often and the fact that Carzola, who provided Ozil with great service and
more freedom to roam, was never truly replaced, the only real skilled outlet on the pitch was Sanchez... remember to be considered a world - class set - up man goals need to be scored and for much of his time here he has been surrounded by some incredibly inept finishers... in the end, I'm not sure how long he will be in North London, recent sentiments and his present contract situation seem to suggest that he will depart at season's end, but how tragic would it be if once again we didn't put our best foot forward and failed to make those moves that could have brought championship football back to our once beloved club... so when you think about this uniquely skilled
player don't be so quick to shift all the blame on his shoulders because he will not be the
first or the last highly skilled
player to find disappointment at the Emirates if we don't rid the club of those individuals that are truly to blame for our current woes
First of all I would like to say that I think Arsenal will come away from Vicarage Road next weekend with all three points, especially
as the
team should look a lot
more like the Arsenal we are used to, with Olivier Giroud leading the attack and Mesut Ozil doing what he does best in the number 10 position, but there will be a lot
more pressure on the
players to beat Watford than is ideal.
love your articles galen this just proves the sheer stupidity and arrogance of our manager what are
players like ozil and giroud still doing at arsenal after their
first season ozil should probably be sold back to shalke in a soft league and who knows he might play his best football and it might help in his national
team form cazorla is a good
player but not world class he can not be classified on the same level against
players like silva iniesta and the old arsenal fabregas sanchez is also good but he needs to add
more to his game for him to be put on the same level with world beaters like suarez neymar and bale koscienly is also good but he has too many injury troubles coquelin is a class
player but he is not world class he is good technically but not a dominant midfielder like schneiderlin and fernandinho
as for cech he is there among the best keepers and he is the only positive in this arsenal
team.Needs to work on his distribution though the back four is solid but has alot of light weights strong and powerful foward might find it easy
Good news on both
players if it's true, both are important to the club
as it stands but who knows what will happen over the next five years, a new manager might come in and sell them both and get better replacements or the bank of England might decide to buy the club so who might still be playing in the
first team is a bit of a silly question, even
more so with Arsenal's injury record.
well
as we know wenger is at least staying for one
more season, we will most likely see
more or these younger
players given game time next season, there are a few that are training with the
first team on a regular basis.
One wonders what the future holds for the wide man, he has the ability to make it but maybe he is
more likely to develop
as a
player if he moved to a club where he is guaranteed a
first team start and can then get a run of games under his belt.
Picture this, we don't come out of the gate firing on all cylinders, Wenger speaks of how there wasn't enough time for the
first - teamers to build chemistry, several key
players aren't even playing because of Wenger's utterly ridiculous policy regarding
players who played in the Confed Cup or the under21s and the boo - birds have returned in full flight... if these things were to happen, which is quite possible considering the Groundhog Day mentality of this club, how long do you think it will take for Wenger to recant his earlier statements regarding Europa... I would suggest that it's these sorts of comments from Wenger which are often his undoing... why would any manager worth his weight in salt make such a definitive statement before the season has even started... why would any manager who fashions himself an educated man make such pronouncements before even knowing what his starting 11 will be come Friday, let alone on September 1st... why would any manager who has a tenuous relationship with a great many supporters offer up such a potentially contentious talking point considering how many times his own words have come back to bite him in the ass... I think he does this because he doesn't care what you or I think, in fact he's
more than slightly infuriated by the very idea of having to answer to the likes of you and me... that might have been acceptable during his formative years in charge, when the fans were rewarded with an scintillating brand of football and success felt like a forgone conclusion, but this new Wenger led
team barely resembles that
team of ore... whereas in times past we relished a few words from our seemingly cerebral manager, in recent times those words have been replaced by a myriad of excuses, a plethora of infuriating stories about who he could have signed but didn't and what can only be construed
as outright fabrications... it's kind of funny that when we want some answers, like during the whole contract debacle of last season, we can't get an intelligent word out of him, but when we just what him to show his managerial acumen through his actions, we can't seem to get him to shut - up... I beg you to prove me wrong Arsene
When Lucas joined, Sanchez was playing really well
as a striker and can remember an interview with Lucas where he stated he thought he would be a
first team player and expected
more minutes.
Maybe so, but thanks to Ingram and Custer — two
players who qualify
as legends — the Ramblers,
more so than UMBC (the
first No. 16 seed to beat a No. 1 in 136 tries), Texas A&M (who demolished defending champ UNC), Nevada and the other giant - killing
teams of 2018, are the ultimate embodiment of everyone's favorite March fable... right down to the dead ringer for the fairy godmother.
The 20 year old is in real danger of falling further down the pecking order at Arsenal, especially with the introduction of
more first team signings and youth
players such
as Jeff Reine Adelaide overtaking him.
Francis Coquelin has looked another impressive young
player to make a
first -
team place his own in the absence of
more senior stars, though Chamberlain's injury will still be a blow
as the 21 - year - old struggles to get a run of games going.
This is because Koscielny is not far off a return to full fitness, whilst Chambers and Holding are largely inexperienced and so are seen
as more rotational
players than
first team choices.
GOD knows what wud hav happened if he hadnt inherited george Graham's defense
as thats what i hav heard u ppl say.and maybe hes afraid that spending will expose his incompetence... if hes that a genuis that he shows himself to be (he stands on his opinion even when whole world think otherwise); then atleast arsenal twam shud be within some 5 pts of
first placed
teams for most seasons and hav regularly atleast a quarter final finish.he had shown glimpses of a changed attitude with ozil and Sanchez but i guess am wrong.arsenal
first place in January when ozil was bought, ppl asked for striker, but this man showed himself to know
more and failed again.a nd last year only club to not buy an outfield
player #wow jus wow; like
team was picture perfect....
the
first half was very poor and almost every pass got intercepted due to the huge amount of space between
players, we werent able to move the ball forward quickly and when we did we lost it, i know this isn't out starting 11 but the
players need to play much
more compact on sunday or this formation will never work, pressing is also required and im saying
as a
team not one
player busting a gut to chase it when all the defender needs to do is pass in any direction and that's it threat gone!!
There has been talk that Arda Turan could well be targeted
as another
player who could take Ozil's place in the Arsenal
first -
team, but a fit Wilshere would be
more than able to bring that creative flair into our side.
Sheffield Wednesday played the role of the
more sophisticated and elegant sibling
as they were regulars in Tier 1 of English football in the 80s through to the early 90s, culminating with an impressive 3rd place in the last season of the old
First Division, «
player / managed» by Trevor Francis in an era when managing a
team was easy enough to prolong a successful veteran's playing career.
If Pritchard makes Poch's grade then the Spurs
first -
team next season will likely be
more than half - full of academy
players, which is a great feather in our cap
as no other top Premier League
team can even come close to that.
This idea could be applied to other
players as well and I do wonder if this is why we are seeing the likes of Oxlade Chamberlain seemingly stall, if not go backwards, in their development
as a
player once they are
more regularly in the
first team.
