August 17, 2016 Maddie's Fund ®, a national family foundation based
in Pleasanton, CA,
awarded Portraits of Hope (POH) $ 300,000 to support their public art initiative to make animal shelters
more inviting, appealing and attractive public
spaces to help drive people to those venues to adopt dogs and cats
in need of a home.
When making my bookings a few weeks prior,
space was unavailable, but I knew that US Air and American often opened up
more award seats
in the day or two preceding a flight.
Keep
in mind that Thai has much
more plentiful
award space.
In theory, earning and redeeming points at fixed rates enables the airline to offer
award space at all times without restrictions — there's no way to game the system, and the points have a lower value that
more closely tracks the accounting liability they create.
These are

Yellow means
award space is available, and a legend at the bottom of the page explains this
in more detail.
This is also a good strategy if you can only find
award space in one direction right now and are hoping
more award space will appear later.
Aeroplan (Air Canada) offers one of the

Change can be both good and bad, and while we've got a little of both this year
in the
award travel
space, there's
more of the former than the latter.
With Ft. Lauderdale's proximity to Miami and most other things South Florida offers this route is a nice bonus for Avios collectors — we suddenly have a lot
more premium cabin
space flying
in / out of the Miami metropolitan area and that should be good for fares and
award availability (hopefully!)
but don't stockpile miles
in the vain hope that American starts getting
more liberal with its
award space....
The Lufthansa group / Miles &
More participating airlines have been known to reserve
award space for their own frequent flyers and only release
award space to other Star Alliance airlines last minute, resulting
in higher fees for last minute bookings.
As long as you fly
in more or less a straight line and don't mix carriers, Avios is often a great bargain for domestic U.S. trips, and I've helped a couple people find
award space for their points
in the last few months.
United miles are still
more valuable for travel to Europe, though not by a huge margin anymore, ever since Lufthansa stopped releasing first class
award space in advance.
So
in this case, Delta has made
more award space available at its lowest levels (plural), but nothing at its lowest level.
Since then Lufthansa has full - on stopped releasing first class
award space more than a couple of weeks before departure, eliminating quite a few redemption opportunities
in advance.
Lufthansa usually releases first class
award space no
more than 14 days
in advance, so I was pretty excited to book first class yesterday, November 1, for 15 days
in advance, November 16.
Somehow I'll get
more Copa miles
in the future and redeem them on a solid
award chart, with no fuel surcharges, to take advantage of great Star Alliance
award space worldwide.
Featuring the company's branding and Acro seats, which are fitted to all Jet2.com aircraft to provide
more space and comfort, the A330 will enable Jet2.com and Jet2holidays customers to enjoy a spacious widebody cabin
in addition to the company's
award - winning customer service and friendly flight times.

By late June, I see
more award space on the A380
in First Class, probably due to the second daily A380 frequency.
In those months, you can integrate
award space into a trip plan
more easily.
The tables might turn even during the judging: you might be
awarded bonus coins for doing well
in minigames, moving the fewest number of
spaces, and
more.
