I am totally a casual summer person... so much so, in fact, that I have recently realized I am in NEED (not want) of
more dressy summer outfits for work attire.

dressy enough to serve as a sophisticated look for
summer weddings or
dressy nights on the town.
I take a small cross-body bag (inside a small, collapsible tote on the plane), a raincoat, black pencil skirt, black
dressier pants, a second pair of pants (somewhat
more casual / sturdy but NOT jeans), black cardigan sweater jacket, black turtleneck, two
dressy tops, two somewhat causal tops, base layer (unless
summer), undies, sleepwear and robe, two pairs of shoes, flip flops, scarves, and some inexpensive jewelry.
I can't even tell you the last time I picked a pretty lace blouse out of my wardrobe as I always find them
dressy for
more casual occasions, but after coming across this pretty Alice Temperley piece from John Lewis I knew it would fit seamlessly into my wardrobe for the
summer months.
Summer is all about ease and metallic sandals (especially flat ones) will give any
dressy evening look a
more laid back feel without sacrificing the glam factor.
In reality, I live in totally casual Austin where it's hot all the time, and spend
summers on the even
more casual Oregon coast, where Gap is «
dressy»
I'd love to find out how to wear shorts stylishly, both casually and
more dressy, for spring and
summer.
Pair with strappy gladiator sandals and a statement or printed tee for
summer cool or a lightweight, thin strap top for a
more dressy feel.

summer, I love wearing
more dressed up pieces during the day so to calm down the
dressy factor I paired it up with a simple white button down and my trusty open toe booties.

I decided I want to get
more wear out this dress, its quite
dressy and I don't really have the right occasions to wear it (its a great wedding outfit which is what I brought it for) But for this outfit below I'm wearing the dress as a skirt by putting a jumper over the top paired with boots, this gives me a totally different outfit from the
Summer straps dress its meant to be.
